Daily Texan (UT student newspaper) vs. OU Daily (OU student newspaper) Both schools write letters to each other every year before the RRSO and they get printed in both publications.
The quality of writing between the Texan and the Oklahoma paper aren't even comparable. The Texan piece is well written, pointed, satirical, and captures the reader's interest throughout. The Oklahoma piece is disjointed, choppy, and goes off on an irrelevant rant about Islam and the KKK. Point: Daily Texan.
Texas: "We would comment on the inferiority of the members of your team individually, but we can’t seem to think of any of note. Plus, we hate to criticize our fellow Texans." OU: "What happened, Texas? When the underdog comes biting, you roll over and die like a little punk-*** *****?" Honestly, the above is what it feels like to be in the Cotton Bowl each year. This is a fairly accurate depiction of the two fanbases.
Daily Texan: Relevant wit & humor Daily OK: political nonsense filled with hate & vitriol They just don't get it
Good stuff, thanks for posting. Do you have a link to last year's editorial? I recall the Daily Texan handily winning that exchange as well.
Daily Texan, hands down. Damn, the DO sure has gone downhill since your's truly left town. Get your **** together, DO!
Neither was brilliantly written, IMHO (but then, such is the nature of student journalism). For the record, I'm perfectly happy if Texas is considered the "scrotum of America." We are America's balls: the very source of strength and virility. Oklahoma, on the other hand, is its belly button: the last vestigial remains of an infant's umbilical cord.
