The article states that Wichard and Blake have "shared a 25 year friendship." Will this lead to anything involving OU, Mississippi State and Nebraska?
Is anyone shocked at this when Blake used to be Switzers right hand man? I agree that UNC is headed for big penalties. USC got hit hard, and I don't think there was proof of direct ties to money by the coaches. UNC's best bet is to cooperate fully, because part of the reason USC got toasted was their lack of cooperation.
This is going to be a very big story, and the entire landscape of college sports may be effected. Agents are getting their hooks into not just players and their family members, but now coaches and recruiting co-ordinators. This taints the whole process. There needs to be some changes made somehow. I think it is rempant in basketball especially. But yeah, John Blake-now where have we heard that name before, and why are we not surprised?
But hey, at least the NCAA got that whole 'coach in waiting' BS sorted out. Talk about an unfair advantage...
Somewhat tangential question: Could the university sue an agent for tampering with a player for monetary damages to the football program (missed bowl games, impact of losing scholarships, etc.)?
It's worth a shot. At the very least, it might make some of those snakes think twice before they tamper.
