The "plus ones" will be interesting.
Now if they’ll just go back to 50% attendance.
What’s the rationale for dropping games? Extra cost for keeping players safe? Cases will be dropping fast by Sept 1
50-75% attendance AND
permanent elimination of the worthless, serves no purpose Bowelsby Bowl.
If we can't play during the State Fair, how about playing OU in The Cotton Bowl Thanksgiving weekend?
If the response is like attendance at my church, UT is lucky if 25% of season ticket holders show up. Why do you think the dept is calling every single ticket holder if the response wasn’t so bad?
Rice is the easiest
SMU would be fun.
I admit Mr Sabre that as mr gung ho the prospect of a 25% attendance is dampening my enthusiasm too.
Word on the street is the plus one would likely be UTEP since they're in the family.....guidelines would be easiest to manage, agree upon.
You didn't hear it from me.
It actually increases mine. This could be the best season ever in terms of beating expectations and no crowds.
FYI, if the US as a whole is able to keep cases down to the trickle that NY state has achieved (roughly 800 per day), the US would need to keep cases <18,000 per day.
I was just thinking (uh oh), since the schedule is shortened for the season in p5 conferences will there be a change in format for the playoffs because there might be a higher number of undefeated teams? What if five or six teams are undefeated.
Maybe go to a 8 team playoff. And with fewer regular season games the players won't be drained.
Just for the record I have always been in favor of a sixteen team playoff format.
I don't attend games. Well, not in a long time. With attendance being way down maybe I could get a good seat.
The last game I attended was when Notre Dame and Lou holtz came to town I think we won on last-second field goal or we lost on a last-second field goal I can't remember.
Well I did go to a few games since but stayed outside of the stadium to watch the games in the tents and eat some good BBQ with friends.
At least 3 slots are already filled - Alabama and Clemson; Georgia or tOSU; everyone else will be playing for the other slot. (The only benefit is ND will collect a couple of losses playing in the ACC.)
You beat me to it, in other news.....
The selection committee has also announced today Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Notre Dame in the playoffs.
Anyone think regardless of how this goes, Aggie uses the shortened schedule as an excuse? They perform poorly or go undefeated, still it was unfair to them.
I keep hearing BYU as a potential plus one. Apparently they have to fill their entire schedule and is looking for games.
some kid in sixth grade now will have to get revenge for Sam against LSU ...
I am opting out of my season tickets just because I do not want to wear a mask in the stadium. Too damn hot!
Phil you donating, carrying over, or refunding?
Well I'll be pissed if we are undefeated and don't get into the playoffs. There needs to be an eight game playoff.
I don’t believe you have to wear your mask if you are eating or drinking. They do sell beer there.
You know, with $EC playing only conference schedule each team loses about 3 wins over patsy high school teams.
Could make for some interesting win/loss records
Box 13 & Duval County. The rest is history.
Looks like the Big XII is going to modify the 2020 schedule after all:
Oh for the days when moderators moved posts like this to the west mall when they degenerated into political pissing matches. I guess since every thread is now degenerating into political pissing matches you just cant fight the tide.
How could those 3-4 already be declared in he playoffs?
Because they are the best, at least Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. I wouldn't include ND, and wait to see if UGA beat Tennessee and/or .Florida.
So now that we have a season coming up. Maybe Hornfans will be less contentious? At least about Politics. Hopefully we can get back to talking real football here very soon. I think I am way better at that than all this corona beer trump china virus crap! I'll try to slow down on my Bitcoin rants too. Seems like we're burning it all down. Nothing I can say to stop that anyway. I am just going to think more football syntric starting Friday when they have the first practice. Until then look out!
Seems silly to cancel in the NE where cases are extremely low. Latest chart of US cases shown below:
Schedule supposed to be released tomorrow
ou game supposed to still be in Dallas.
