Chris Gilbert, Spring Branch HS 3-time All-SWC, consensus AA 1968. Team captain and first player in NCAA history to rush for 1000 yards in three consecutive seasons. Hall of Honor 1978. College football HOF 1999.
4th Your top photo of Charles catching it in mid stride and the girl on the sidelines throwing a big Hook'em is outstanding
Walter Fondren, Houston Lamar HS All-SWC 1955. Played at RB, QB, DB, and punter. He also returned punts and kickoffs. He was DKR’s first quarterback in 1957 and was a team captain. His grandfather was a co-founder of Humble Oil (as a newly-minted Houstonian I drove the street named after his fam daily) and his wealth earned him no small amount of ribbing from his teammates (he owned and piloted a private plane). He was a founding chairman of the Gulf Coast Conservation Assoc. (now the CCA). Longhorn Hall of Honor 1983.

The identifiable Texas players in this pic (L-R Appleton, Ford, & McWilliams) are the three 1963 team captains. Hope this clears up the whiskey tango foxtrot.
Your jealousy probably won't be too long-lived. Bet he is bald by the time he turns 40. Andre Agassi redux.

Mike, That's not me, that's Ernie Koy, Jr of Bellville. My grandson pitched against his grandson, and the Koys were faithful to drive in. Ernie wore #23.
Sorry Sabre, I know that is Ernie. I thought it was his grandson. I have known him since the 1950's. He is in fact my neighbor and I thought (incorrectly) that he had posted the photo. My bad.
Absolutely. I was lucky enough to know Ernie Sr as well and graduated in the same class as Ted, both in high school and at UT.
Speaking of Ted Koy .... I have been terribly busy at the office the last few days so I am catching up on this thread. It appears Wishbone HB # 24 Ted Koy was overlooked on day 24, so here is recognition to him rumbling vs. the Irish 1/1/70:
