Current mayor of Galveston and proud former Ball High Golden Tornado #67 Jim Yarbrough (no relation to Gotch) shakes hands with Fred Akers celebrating a 57-28 victory over the Aggies in 1977. Recruited as a linebacker turned offensive lineman, he became the first-ever graduate-player in NCAA history.
I hope the team and coaches are ready. While it seems ridiculous to call the first game of the year a must win, I hope Herman is considering it a must win. If we lay another egg in our opener, fans and the team may think this is Charlie Strong Act II.
‘63 National Champion Texas Longhorns Couldn’t find a decent picture of Randy Braband. His tackle on 4th and 1 (and the side judge’s bad eyesight on Marty Atkins touchdown run) in the ‘73 Cotton Bowl sealed the victory over ‘Bama. Leon O’Neal’s IQ was my second choice for 63 but couldn’t find a pic for that either.
How about #63 stud OL Justin Blalock. Part of the best UT OL in history and a key part of the success of the 2005 National Championship team.
Where is #62... I cannot remember any notable ones. I need a HF lifeline to keep this thread current and going forward!!!
Good question. I think I remember DKR saying that about one of his mid to late 60's Offenses... don't remember what player he said it about.
