I wish we were opening conference play at home - but alas, we are not.

I think we should win this game - it won't be easy though.

I didn't realize:

Our team ranks ninth in the country in three statistical categories — defensive field-goal percentage (33.8); scoring (80.2 points per game); and scoring margin (plus 21.9).

It's nice that we come in so high in those statistical categories - but I think our high ranking is mainly due to the large number of cupcake teams we have played in the preseason which inflates our stats.

We will fall way down when conference play starts, but then so will most everyone, except maybe Tennessee and UConn

 

Rexy, I'm afaid this won't be easy either. I'm scared this is going to be a trap game. With Carla not 100%, a minor plane scare, conference debut on the road ... the team is going to have to stay focused and minimize mistakes. By no means will this be easy. Hopeully they will play well and BEAT NEBRASKA!

I know, it made me laugh too. I heard her say it when I listened to the B12 teleconference! I couldn't believe that I was hearing it!

 

Was she serious?

 

It was part humor, part self-depreciating coachspeak and fortunately for us a little part truth. I have to admit at times this year I've watched us on defense and I'm not sure what we're running.

Mulkey was also giving it a go with the self-depreciating remarks. When asked if she had worked on her team being more balanced in scoring this year she said I'm not smart enough to do that. Only in her accent, she sells it a little better.

 

Apparently their jet plane got stuck in the mud last night.

Tough loss. I just knew this was going to be a trap game. Of course, we beat ourselves too ... Sloppy play. Poor shooting and rebounding. Carla makes such a difference. Our team needs to heal up and get ready for the next one.
