Thought we could track how our signees are doing. Lashann Higgs had a huge weekend recently: The Link
Not signees but we can hope that willl be the case some day................Natalie Chou had 15 last night for Plano West in a win. Cox had like 9 for Flower Mound in a low scoring loss. Holmes had 19 in a challenging win for Cedar Hill.
Good articles, Moo. Glad to hear that Jordan has had good teachers around her that have helped teach her techniques to deal with dyslexia. That does not always happen. It is still a lot of extra work she has had to put in academically on her own.
Cedar Ridge 73 Rouse 40 Lashann Higgs with 29 pts. Neumann-Goretti [59] vs. Archbishop Wood [33] Christina Aborowa : 3 points Neumann-Goretti is flashy and for real Hosey, Ogwumike continuing McDonald’s All-American tradition at Manvel, Cypress
Christina Aborowa's HS, , Neumann-Goretti [Pa.] HS, is ranked second nationally in week 5. espnW 25 Power Rankings: Week 5
Flower Mound 54 Flower Mound Marcus 38 Lauren Cox scores 32 pts. Plano West 64 Plano 49 Natalie Chou with 30 pts. Cedar Hill 49 South Grand Prairie 44 Joyner Holmes with 6 pts.
I'm surprised that Christina and Felicia have such low offensive productivity, at their heights. They may not have many offensive skills, or could be they're not being utilized much by flashy guards who want to take the shots.
JoeDallas, from what I have read, both came late to the game and are still developing their skills. Defensively, they are impressive. Offensively, they are a work in progress. Both are supposed to be outstanding athletes and very coachable. They are certainly ranked fairly high by the ranking groups.
Thanks Moooo. Despite the current disappointment in conference play, the future looks really bright for Texas. With 4 Texans on MDAA, the most of any state, speaks volume to the quality of girls high school basketball. The same goes with the 8 Texans on this summers Team USA 24 member basketball teams. Tuesday: Jordan Hosey had 21 pts Tuesday in Manvel’s 60-21 win over Pasadena. Manvel is 11-3 for the season and 3-0 in district. That’s really weird. Manvel has played only three district games while others have played as many as 11. Strange scheduling.
BabHorn: If you're looking for the record of Manvel HS, or any high school, I find MaxPrep to be one of the more reliable sites. Not all scores are reported to the Houston Chronicle so their win-loss record will be missing some games. According to MaxPrep, 12-0 in district. That makes more sense. www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/manvel-mavericks-%28manvel,tx%29/girls-basketball/schedule.htm
Nice story from AAS staff member Danny Davis. Cedar Ridge’s Higgs earns a spot in the McDonald’s All American Game Basketball: Manvel’s Hosey named to McDonald’s All-American Game
Thursday, 01/29/15 Neumann-Goretti 64 vs. Bishop McDevitt 19 Christina Aborowa : 4 points From the AAS 01/31/15:
Fascinating story on Christina Aborowa and her teammate Felicia Aiyeotan who Texas is recruiting. I had no idea this "smear campaign" was targeting these girls...very sad. LINK
Sad that this happened to Christina and Felicia but a disgrace that the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the school have taken no action against the coach. Glad that Christina is coming to Texas.
