Ariel seems to be keeping her head down and just doing what she does best: work. Lookin' good, AA.

IMO, Ariel has never gotten the props she deserved nationally, though of course we've always known here what a great player she is. I don't know much about the WNBA, but shouldn't she have a shot a the all-rookie team, if there is one?

And it will be on ESPN2 for those us unable to be there in person. Hope you can make in person, DFW_Horn. :hookem2:

So did Dawn Staley and Lisa Borders to present the Dawn Staley Community Leadership award to Skylar Diggins-Smith.

Hadn't realized Ariel took so many shots during the game vs Dallas. Didn't look that way watching it. She had 15 pts on 5-16 shooting. Also had five assists and one steal.

Two games on NBATV today with Seattle at Conn (6 pm) and Dallas at Chicago (8 pm) with Washington at New York on Saturday at 2 pm.

Hope those games are actually shown here and are not considered out of area, especially the Washington game.

Saturday's Mystics game: Ariel ends up with 10 pts on 4-9 shooting (2-5 from BTA), 5 assists and two steals in 95-78 win over NY Liberty. :hookem2:

Big vote of confidence for Ariel as Mystics trade backup G Tayler Hill to Dallas for F/G Aerial Powers.

    http://www.hoopfeed.com/content/201...r-hill-in-exchange-for-forward-aerial-powers/

We had an overload at the guard position as Ariel Atkins has proven herself as a starter on this team,” Washington head coach Mike Thibault said. “We had an opportunity to add a bigger wing player in Aerial Powers, who is versatile enough to play positions two through four. With Tayler Hill’s minutes decreasing, we thought it best to give her the opportunity to find more playing time elsewhere.”

Texas staff members out supporting Ariel during the Washington road trip to Dallas.

It was also a Breast Cancer Awareness event and very appropriate that Tiff was there as well.

Both Imani's team (Atlanta, 2nd place) and Ariel's (Washington, 4th place) are in excellent shape to make the WNBA's eight team playoffs. :hookem2:

Atlanta is in one of two slots to get a free pass to the semis while Washington currently is looking at a free pass to the quarterfinals if they can hold on to their current position.

    WNBA action on NBATV today:
Seattle vs Indiana at 6 PM CST
    and
Washington at Phoenix at 9 PM CST.
Hopefully, this game is not blacked out in the Austin area.

For those that remember him, between the two games will be a show focusing on the Big O's career. Oscar Robertson was an awesome big guard back before big guards became the norm.

    Tuesday’s games (08/07/18):

    Atlanta 109 Las Vegas 100
Imani didn’t play a lot of minutes (8) but made 1-2 FGs, grabbed one reb and had one block. She did have the announcers talking about her good play for the Dream.

    Washington 103 Phoenix 98
Ariel started and played 20 minutes. She had a rough night shooting, going 2-6 from the field (0-2 from BTA) for four points. She was second with five assists and had two steals but also a team high four TOs.

Atlanta sits at second in the league, 3.5 games behind Seattle while Washington is third, 4.5 games behind the Storm and 0.5 games ahead of the LA Sparks.

Ariel was having a career day (26 points on 7-11, 5/5 from 3, 7/8 FT, 5 rebounds) but went down hard with about 4 minutes to go in Washington’s 93-80 win over Dallas. Looks like she came down on her hip and was in a lot of pain. Hobbled to the locker room and did not return.

Hate hearing that news. She's tough. Hopefully it's nothing serious and she'll be able to return for the next game.

Let us know if you see an update.

Still led the team with 26 pts. She was trying for a layup but got turned sideways by the D and ended up dropping about 4-5 feet straight down on her right side. She didn't have time to try to break her fall. Like DFT_Horn said, it looked like her hip.

Ridiculous that they did not call the foul. Defender hacks her halfway between the wrist and elbow so hard Ariel ends up parallel to the ground as she falls.

    Wow...

A steep descent in fortune for the Dallas Wings reached a new low on Sunday afternoon in Washington, when head coach Fred Williams and a man believed to be team president, CEO and partner Greg Bibb were involved in a postgame altercation outside the team’s locker room, following a 93-80 loss to the Mystics.

According to a source present for the back-and-forth, Williams and Bibb had to be restrained by other Wings staffers, and Williams was screaming obscenities.

The incident is just the latest setback that followed a Wings season with such promise. On July 19, Liz Cambage followed her WNBA-record 53 points with another 35, and the Wings defeated Washington, 90-81 to improve their record to 14-9. The Wings sat among the teams with a logical shot at the second seed in the WNBA playoffs, and given the way Cambage, Skylar Diggins-Smith and others were playing, they seemed as plausible a title contender as anyone in the league.

However, that marked the last win of the season for the Wings, and eight straight losses later, Dallas sits just a game ahead of the Las Vegas Aces for the eighth and final WNBA playoff spot. Moreover, the recent decline in play leaves few believers that even if they make the postseason, they’ll be any kind of postseason threat.

Doesn't look good for having everyone on the same page at Dallas. I had hoped that Ariel would go to Dallas during the draft as she would be closer and it would be easier to go watch her. Glad she didn't as that sounds like it could be a toxic place.

Well, Williams is out as HC at Dallas and Taj McWilliams-Franklin. McWilliams-Franklin graduated from St. Edwards 1993 after transferring from Georgia State at the end of her frosh year (1989-1990).
Fred Williams out as Wings head coach

Yesterday was the first time Lindsay Whalen came off the bench since the first game of her rookie season. If she were an assistant coach it would be hard enough but as the new Minnesota Gophers Head Coach, I would guess near impossible to do that and continue playing.

Haven't seen anything about Ariel's injury so I am guessing it was minor. Guess we will find out if she is playing tomorrow.

Looking forward to courtside seats for the final Aces home game on Sunday...they finish against Imani and the rest of Atlanta's roster. Game COULD have actual playoff implications for Vegas...
