Read in OB comments section that Rakestraw was either upset or angry during his visit over not being invited to some summer camp. Anyone know what happened? Like specifically how he acted?
If that’s the case (a big if), then it sounds like some petty vindictiveness over butt hurt feelings. Sorry we didn’t recognize your greatness a year or more ago guy, but we figured out how good you are this year and extended an offer. UT doesn’t hand out offers like candy. It’s an honor.
Just going off what I read. One poster described him as angry, which another poster then clarified as upset. Seems strange that he’d visit if this is accurate given he intended to just give the staff a big FU. Pretty much a moot point, but seeing if there’s any credibility to the story. If true, it’s just another recruit messing with Texas fans, e.g. Ringo asking to join other UT commits in a photo and flashing the horns up.
Rakestraw....too bad for him and UT that he chose another direction. Seems odd that he apparently was overlooked by many and then suddenly was wanted by UT, Ala and Mizz; what changed in such a short time. How did UT and others just suddenly notice him?
He was fidgeting around and I thought he was glancing at the UT cap. Never looked once at Florida. Then he picks Florida. At least he won't be playing against us. Been a disappointing day so far.
There is zero buzz around UT. The bloom is off of Herman. All that can be done now is win and look well coached every week. That's the task ahead.
100% right. If we don't win big next season then recruiting will be ruined and keeping Herman any longer will be the ruination of the program for a decade or longer. There is a huge fire under Herman's chair. Win and the program will take off like the early Mack years.
Not fair. Tom has had very good recruiting years and although the W/L was not we wanted last year, one must admit the three year bowl record is pretty stellar. And Tom has not been on the bad side of blowouts, unlike our two previous coaches. Turning negative on our coach over the action and decision making of an18 year old hat tuning, media grabbing, bloated ego is getting on the wrong side of this issue. These headline grabbers do not pan out more times than not, and if they can’t be upfront with their decision, I for one would pull the offer. Showtime on payday is probably just that; a payday!
Not at all! Better to not have the uncommitted in the program. If the guy does not buy-in to the UT and the football program, let them go drink someone's Kool-Aid.
My feeling is based upon the very disappointing year along with the need to get rid of both coordinators. Not a good look at all from my point of view.
