Here are a couple LBs in the portal (not to mention Caleb Johnson)
    Jordan Anthony
    Griffin Grady

Those are the only two possible fits in my mind.

Orlando's LB recruiting was impossible to reconcile

A glimpse at Valai here, seems like he might be able to recruit

My Dr told me I had Whataburger in my veins, so he put me on a diet.

I wonder what the average Whataburger blood count is for long-time Texas residents?

What a coaching oversight to not have your backup QB prepared for the national championship game of all things. Just assume that your starter will be fine and hey, have fun this week kid, you won't be needed. Assume nothing, prepare everyone.

I know the backup qb thing is obviously a huge topic.
Colt was an extremely talented quarterback with a special relationship with his receivers, and that offense was unstoppable.
What if Vince went down? Matt Nordgren going to step in?
What about Joe Burrow going down on the first drive v Clemson?
I’m sure the backup is a stud, but is he coming in and scoring 40?
Trevor Lawrence? Clemson’s question was answered when the starter Kelly Bryant got beat out and transferred. He couldn’t have won a championship game.
Quarterback is different. Very different when you have one of these guys.

If so why did we run him in the teeth of the Bama line in the 1st quarter?

This. Especially on the goal line.

Especially with his history of injury on the goal line, see KSU.

Oh well, water way under the bridge a long time ago.

Back to the 2020 Recruiting class and graduate transfers, if any.

It was an option from the 10.

Seems pretty close to the goal line to me...

The point is that McCoy had a history of injuries on goal line type plays. Remember KSU in Austin on a keeper.

It was a risky and unwise call, and it probably cost us a NC.

it was a freak accident based on a lifelong football player leading with his body sideways. it was not the play call.

It was weird....very weird....like ..Austin weird.
Seemed almost supernatural......like a strange and terrible destiny of some sort...some great cosmic magnetic force pulling Colt, Mack, the team, "The Texas Longhorns", the fans, and the city to an inevitable and aweful humbling of sorts.

I am forever in the Dumb Effing Call camp. There were better options at RB. A smart coach does not risk his previously injured QB with a dive at the goal line so early in the game.

Vince to Selvin pretty much exactly, early in the game too.

And if Colt has a crease and scores it was great call.

has absolutely nothing to do at what time or down yardage that play was called. They ran that play every game at every time of the game all year.

Haven't been keeping up too much the last couple of days. So, is Herman actively looking to go portal picking for the remaining open spots to bring in some experience like the two LBs (the one from Michigan and the one from Whisky) listed above?

Did not know any of this. Hope Carrington has a full recovery and can resume life in comfort.

It looks like we're about done for 2020. For icing on the cake, maybe we grab a portal transfer, grad transfer, or JC player or two...?

This is the point where I stop obsessing about 2020 recruiting and start obsessing about 2021 recruiting.

2020 quality over quantity for Texas. However, the rankings favor quantity over quality. Guess we will eventually see which produces the most All Americans and early-round NFL picks.

It certainly was not publicized. I also wish him a full recovery. Must have been hell going on those recruiting trips.

Oh, I will take quality everyday. But as these HS Prospect rankings have proven, half of these kids will be busts in 4-5 years. I like Herman's evaluations and his getting on 3 Stars early that end up being 4 Stars on signing day. Mostly I like that Texas seems to have only a 10% - 15% bust rate.

I had the same thought CH. Sitting on airplanes and in cars had to be torture. It makes his production even more impressive. I hope CDC and TH can find a way to properly reward his dedication and sacrifice.
