Do we only have one game today?
Yes only one game today against Tech at 10:30.
NCAA selection show on ESPN Sunday at 8pm central time. I guess we are out of getting a super regional now? I read the NCAA is only allowing 50% capacity for the games. I do not agree. Open it up and let the fans make there own decisions.
Does anyone know if the super-regionals are for sure going to be set on the same day as the regionals? I would think that supers would be like any regular playoff year. i.e. if you win your regionals, you automatically become a super-regional. Or is the NCAA going to be contrarian and use the excuse of COVID to say, "regardless of what happens in the regionals, these WILL BE the super-regional locations"?
I put together a chart of the current softball RPI which seems to include games played so far (it reflects the current Texas record) and then to the right, the projected field of 64. And in red, I put the teams that have the best chance of upsetting the number 1 seed in each region.
So IF the super-regional is assigned to the winner of the regional who also applied to host super-regionals (one of the 20), then that's how we could possibly host a super-regional.
Rhodes not starting today.
Iapoko should be benched
Guess SEC didnt get the message...stadium looks full
Wow! Ryleigh White is not even in consideration to pitch in this disastrous game against Tech. This is going to hurt us…..bad. We could lose our opportunity to host a regional.
I'm not the person to post here attacking players or coaches...but that being said I have no idea why Coach White would pull Molly? Pretty entertaining listening to the announcers try to make sense of it all...lol. I've been following Texas Softball since Christy Williams days and I cant remember a more frustrating season. And that is mostly because of expectations, not talent....I just thought we would be so much better than this. Even losing Miranda I thought we had enough to be better than this. Season isnt over but to be successful we will need to grow really fast and Im not sure there is enough time to do so.
I would’ve started her before Molly, although I would’ve probably started one of them in game two yesterday and Shea today.
i don’t think we will lose our regional host, but we Definitely won’t host a super.
Mike white will not be the answer as coach at Texas. He didn't put a take sign on a 3-0 count to a freshman after 2 consecutive walks while trailing by 4.
This loss is on the coaches
The Courtney-for-Molly substitution was cocky. i.e. we'll catch up no worries
The incredibly conservative base running on the long fly balls
Decision on who to start the game. Yeah, Shannon was "hurt". Right
JJ swinging on 3-0? Coaches
Kiss that super regional goodbye, if we can even get out of it.
That’s a frustrating tournament.
Hoping for short memories and that opponents overlook us.
Now that I've recovered from this morning....
I still think we are one of the 16 best teams in the country which would mean we host a regional and then providing we win it it would then be from the 8 best teams that win would the Super Regional sites would be choosen. I think we still got a shot...a long one but a shot. Longhorn Forever...Hookem

We definitely will have some drama with Oregon coming to town. Texas state is no push over either. Gonna be fun!!
Hate to look ahead but IF we win our regional we would most likely play okie state. That really sucks!
I watched the selection show and here are some thoughts:
Baylor made it?
Iowa State made it?
One team, now I can't remember, made the tournament with a losing record. Maybe a conference winning auto-qualifiier?
Ugh, we have to play Oregon with all the head games that go along with that
No video feed of the Texas players waiting to hear of the news. That was troubling
It was fun watching the sheer excitement of some teams who have never or don't play often in the tournament jumping up and down with joy for their announcement. Again, no shot of the Longhorns anywhere
The Washington video shot was a bit embarrassing, from their perspective. Before even the last team in their region was announced (Michgan), they got up from their seats and walked out of the room! They didn't clap or smile. They looked pissed off
Duke didn't get picked as one of the 20 potential hosts. They are the highest seed in their region, but have to go to Georgia to play. Odd
The first 8 seeds locations will host the supers regardless of the results of the entire 16 sites
Oregon was ranked higher than Texas for a few weeks this year. Flashbacks to Oregon (with Mike White) knocking us out of the tournament. Why couldn't it have been A&M (who gets OU) who I'm sure is asking why couldn't they go to Austin
Texas plays at 4:00 Friday, I think
With the mental funk of that this team has slid into these last few weeks, I'm not sure we can beat Oregon
Agreed. I don't think this team gets out of the regional. The reality is that once Elish decided not to play this year, their realistic chances of winning anything went out the window.
Elish was an awesome player and we dearly miss her this year.
This is the time to put it all together and leave all the downfalls in the past. It's a new season and it's time to get serious!! The committee knew exactly what they were doing putting oregon in our regional. That game is going to get major views and I love it.
Sidenote: Washington was absolutely robbed and is much better than the #16 seed.
Washington being called a spoiled team having a fit
I don't like that but at the same time I can't be mad at them. Especially when the committee has a team like Missouri as an 8 seed which is ridiculous. I would have Missouri and Washington switched because no way Washington is #5 in the country and drops all the way to a #16 seed in the tournament so I get why they are upset
At least they showed this:
Was thinking back to the last time we hosted at McCombs, 2019. All the elements:
2. Errant throws by Texas
3. A bad throw by a catcher to score the eventual, winning run
(but mostly Elish!)
I think Texas comes out of this regional, maybe with a loss, to go to OSU. OSU will win. At home, we are a better team.
It's double elimination correct??
Yes. Use this to track: NCAA.com
I do think we can make it out of this regional. I also like our chances against OSU. I mean, cmon! If we go 0-6 against OSU this year that is PITIFUL.
