After watching the game today and seeing the poor performances of various positions, if I were a recruit, I'm thinking, "Man! I'm going to Texas! I can beat out those guys and be a starter!"

Unfortunately the thoughts of most kids these days is " Damn this team sucks, I'm not going there".
It's hard to sell anything from last nights sheet show.
I really thought we had left this kind of ineptitude with this new staff.
Sark and company are going to have to work extra hard to not lose any of the guys we have committed.

The game of football hasn’t changed that much in 90 years. Three of the first five MNC’s were won by a school who hasn’t won another since 1940. That team (without looking it up) had 5, corn fed giant linemen with Z,Y,X’s more than vowels. Midwest farm boys. Minnesota owned college linemen! We need them badly. So, looking on the bright side of Bacon whips Beef 2021, any OL recruits interested in early playing time, fly to ATX as soon as possible.

Different mind set with kids today. Where a lot of us would see opportunity for playing time and showcasing skills and being a starter, some kids are more about being part of a team that wins championships while their butt rides the pine and their cleats never get on the field.

Princeton won the first 4 National Championships; and they definitely haven't won another since 1940. I dunno what their line was like, but based on how football used to be played, I can only surmise that their line was dominant. Apparently, back then gymnastics was the major sport, with baseball 2nd, and this new sport of football less important. Here's a few of their players:

    Meet George Billmeyer
Position: "Captain of the Enemy's Goal"

Meet the giant--Jacob "Big Mike" Michael
    6'0" 215 lbs
    [IMG]

    Meet William "Tar Heel" Glenn
Former Confederate soldier who later "showed serious symptoms of mental derangement." After his Princeton football days, he became a lawyer back in North Carolina.

    Meet John Green "Colonel" Wier
Another "beefy Southerner." He looked suspiciously much older than the other players. Was married with 6 children.

OrangeBloods reporting DL J'mond Tapp was at the LSU game a few days ago.

    J'mond Tapp, Ascension Catholic, Edge

Not good. At least they won't be any better than us this year... Maybe we can keep him.

LSU is 1-1 with 10 to go. They will de dogs to Auburn, Florida, Bama and aggy (for now anyway) and will be pushes against both Mississippi's. That equals 8-4 as a ceiling and 7-5 as most likely.

At Oxford on Eli Manning Day. Tigers are going to have to bring their A+ game.

As a certain recent performance revealed, we need help on the OL. I hope we cast the net wider and bring in a total of 5 OL (all of them good) this class.

Oh yeah, and grab a grad transfer OL and/or portal OL (or two) as well.

So, I think what you're saying is that if we had 22 TE's (3-star or better) we could be awesome. If necessary we could sub in some wimpy types.

I would trade skinner for another o-lineman such as Green, Dewberry

Imagine if we could get one who could be versatile and play TE, QB, RB or OL then pull double duty as LB. That would be the ****. :yippee:

My old mind is foggy, but seems to me we had a good TE out of San Antonio, who was forced to play OG/OT because of a "shortage". David Studdard played on the OL for the Broncos for ten years, then sent his son Casey to Austin.

I could be thinking about Les being a TE?
