Not a surprise but now that it is a reality, it will be interesting. If we want him and if as reported Texas had been his team, he will come here. My boss who lives near Southlake and who is very close to the SLC program — his daughter and Riley Dodge were very close in HS — believes that Ewers is really a good kid. What I have observed would suggest to the contrary but who knows? I doubt he’s the next coming of Ryan Perrilloux. If taking Ewers could blow our chances with Arch Manning — assuming we’re still in the hunt — I would be inclined to pass. No doubt Jimbo is salivating.
First, I don't think Sark has a choice to pass on Ewers. Second, Ewers is only going to play for two years before entering into the NFL. Manning will be behind him one year before taking over. So, I don't see the harm here.
We have to take a shot. Baker Mayfield and kylar Murray seemed like they had similar prima donna issues and both found a lot of success after transferring.
If we get Ewers, considering his pedigree, we may finally close on the must get OL and receivers. May even get Stewart to last minute flip. We would have 2 very good QBs coming in competing. Just saying
Who knows what motivates these kids. Twelve months ago Sark was considered perhaps the top offensive mind in the game, and an outstanding developer of QBs. Today, who knows. Theoretically though that reputation should give Texas some cache.
