I think we’ll get Campbell. Assuming so, or even if that’s not the case, this seems like a potential OL for the ages. Ewers should be drooling, as should Arch Manning. By year 2, or late year 1, our QBs may be taking snaps behind one of the best lines in the FBS. So unless many of these guys bomb out which I doubt, by 2024 — Arch Manning’s RS Freshman year, wow! And coached by Sark, the QB whisperer. If the season is encouraging perhaps — just perhaps - Bijan stays one more year. Ricky did. Gotta say I’m jazzed.
Feb 1, 2022: Decommit CB Ronald Lewis decommits from Texas Longhorns per 247sports. Was a hard commit waiting for the scholarship numbers to work out or other offers to come in. TCU offered Jan 24.
I’ll defer to your superior wisdom. Let me add that 25 years ago Ricky couldn’t stay for his senior year and also possibly make $1,000,000 or more doing so. Incentives exist today that have never existed before.
You really think I didn't anticipate the NIL angle. It's common knowledge Ewers got a million or something at Ohio State and Bryce Young the same at Alabama. Do we have a dollar amount for Bijan? He's not going to risk serious injury and no money for another year for what amounts to peanuts relatively speaking? I don't.
You really do like to argue for the sake of arguing don't you. What does the span in years have to do with anything? Ricky stayed because Mack was a great salesman and he felt he could win a Heisman and set unbreakable records. (unfortunately, those records were broke the following year) Bijan's injury may definately lead him to consider leaving more than staying. But if he has a great season and sees this O-line gelling enough to help him acheive some of the same accolades that Ricky acheived, then, who knows? It's not out of the realm of possibility.
My guess is that he decided he better look for something he can lock in rather than hoping Texas has a scholarship for him at the end of this recruiting season. At this time, it looks like there are too many players on the roster including commits that have not arrived yet but it doesn't matter until Fall camp starts, right? Probably some attrition will occur after Spring practices with more players leaving or arriving via the portal. I am assuming the remaining Horns in the transfer portal will not return.
Moon and Sangre, Agree with you both....really getting old but we endure it!! moon....You really do like to argue for the sake of arguing don't you. Sangre....It is quite unpleasant most of the time, isn't it.
Texas Crystal Ball just tweeted D. Campbell to Texas. Why is it necessary to do this 4 hours before announcing. With the thin skin of This generation of high school players, why not keep this under wraps!
He's been covering the Horns for over 20 years and I can't find anyone who openly supports him. At the same time I'm not sure how he would ever get replaced.
FWIW, I’ve started watching weekly IT interviews (with other IT folks) from Bobby Burton on YouTube. I generally enjoy them and find that they are very informative.
I don't pay attention to crystal balls most of the time. It seems like quite often the ball is dropped and shatters...and the pundits just move on to another prediction.
