Three ducks in the portal, all MW recruits. Jasmine Williams .233 in 90AB Rachel Cid .252 in 110AB Makenna Kliethermes 11-7, 3.65ERA 117IP 116K
Kliethermes committed to Oregon during her junior year, but she reopened her recruitment after Mike White left Oregon to become the head coach at Texas in late June. Two weeks later, the Ducks hired Lombardi, who was previously the associate head coach at Oklahoma. Kliethermes said Missouri, Arizona State and Auburn were among the schools she considered before signing with Oregon. Kliethermes signs to pitch at Oregon (newstribune.com)
Govan continued liking a lot of Texas-related tweets out on twitter during the Super Regional, and since then. Saw that Sophia Simpson started following Shaylon on Instagram. And, Shaylon started following Cat Osterman. Might not mean anything, but that's all I've got at the moment!
How do you find this information? I get it from the twitter account of ExtraInnings Softball. Do you have access to the portal information directly? Indirectly? Or are you on a lot of twitter feeds?
If nothing, this run to the championship will attract a lot of attention from a lot of players. If there ever was a time to go hard for players in the transfer portal it’s going to be after this season. We lose a lot of leadership and talent so there are many great points that could be used to get players to come to Texas. Since the portal is there we might as well capitalize on it and bring in some big names to keep this momentum going for years to come
We will return a sizeable core from this squad: Czech and Simpson in the circle...3B Scott...SS Washington...C/1B Smith and Cimusz...DP/1B Day...DP/OFWhitaker...OF Dayton and Popelka. While there's always room for star transfers, that returning group isn't chopped liver.
Oh for sure. I love the young talent we have and trust them but, if big name players enter the portal you can’t pass on them. Doesn’t need to be a full makeover of your roster but, I would take an experienced proven pitcher, a catcher, and 2nd baseman. Possibly 1-2 utility players and I’ll be fine.
Jenny Bressler from UNLV in the portal, she is a RHP grad transfer with one season left. 2022: 29-7, 1.66ERA, 223IP, 225K, .192BA against
While we have a lot of young talent, we just can't assume every single one of them will remain with the program next season; that transfer portal always brings surprises, and not all of them good.
I remember the first year I saw 5 pitchers on a staff for Texas and that was the 2014-2015 season: Kristen Clark - pitched a total of 15 games over 4 years Tiarra Davis Lauren Slatten - transferred to St. Edwards after 2 years Gabby Smith Erica Wright - gave up softball her senior year An old HS softball coach who used to have an "in" with the program grumbled, "No team has ever reached the WCWS with 5 pitchers!" I myself thought, "Wow Connie. Do you have such low confidence in your pitchers that you got a bunch of them?" I think Connie saw the trend ahead of all of us.
[Requires subscription] Hookem.com This article confirms what I thought. Trautwein was 90% about to commit to Texas when Gasso reached out and snagged her. Argh.
Brianna Evans of OK-State entered the portal and poof her name is off the roster already! Infielder hitting .290. Finished freshman year. Updated: Not only scrubbed from the Roster, the stats have her name scrubbed with only jersey number "1" representing the stat! Must not have been amicable.
Baylor: damn that was fast. I hate when teams do that, no class. maren judisch from Baylor and Payton Jackson from Tech also. Jackson hit .336 on the year
I saw Judisch in a list and quickly checked her stats. 5-2 over 2 years and a 2.08 ERA. I guess she was tired of being only a closer.
Less than 24 hours after OU's win last night, and Alex Storako is already heading to (or in) Norman for an official visit. So, she was either in OKC the last few days for the WCWS, or OU made her tentative flight reservations for both Friday and Saturday depending on how many games had to be played in our championship series.
For a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining, and if their main goal/objective is to qualify for the WCWS and win a national championship, OU is the best bet right now with the least amount of risk (failure).
I'm hoping it will hurt them now with 3rd year returning pitcher, Nicole May out of California, whose outings will continue to diminish as she has fallen from second string to third string this past season, and will remain there this coming season. With Bahl around, May will never be the ace of the OU pitching staff. Why do I care about Nicole May? Her bio says she picked OU over Oregon and Florida (where her Dad played football) out of high school. She was class of 2019, so Coach White must have been the one who recruited her while he was at Oregon.
I’ve been thinking about May transferring since the WCWS. Patty has no confidence in her and obviously now she’s going to be the third wheel again. Do you stay at OU or transfer for a bigger role? OU has a lot of offense they need to replace for next year - they will not be as dominant next year offensively.
She was filthy against Texas in the regional. All four of Arizona State pitchers in portal: Mac Morgan FR probably ace/best but not big strike out pitcher like I prefer Allison Royalty SOPH From Texas originally was filthy before not sure why her numbers were so down.
