Any 2023 grads that are playing for Texas in 2023-2024 playing in the UIL tournament this weekend at McCombs? I happen to drive by there today and the gates were open and various teams will milling about. Might just walk in and catch a game.
Answered my own question. 3 of the 6 signed players for 2023-2024 play in Texas and none of those 3 schools made the playoffs. Softball State Tournament — University Interscholastic League (UIL)
Teagan Kavan must have done pretty well in this all star game. Kayden Henry was also on her team. Love her waving the Longhorn flag!
I watched a replay of the Alliance fastpitch all star game. Kavan started and struck out the side in the 1st inning, no hit the second inning but did give up a walk. Kayden Henry led off the game with a flyout and her second bat struck out. Kavan came back in the 7th inning as her team was behind 2-1. And what does she do but walk the lead off hitter who steals 2nd. She strikes out the next 2 batters then wild pitches to get the runner to third. Then an OK State commit gets a hit by just putting her bat out and it goes over short. Kavan gives up a run. She doesn't get charged for the lose but her team loses 3-1. She is going to be a great pitcher for Coach White. Her Rise ball is her strength pitch with a nice change up. Henry didn't have a chance to really show her stuff with only 2 bats.
I was really impressed with Kavan. I’m excited but really worried how she will do in college. Sophia Simpson was a star in travel ball and when she got to college it was the total opposite. Almost as if she regressed. :/. I really hope Kavan is one of the 3 aces. We need a strikeout pitcher really bad.
I agree Kavan has more upside than Simpson though. Simpson can be great if she developed a consistent pitch other than her change up. Kavan has that already and her low rise and rise ball will be her bread and butter kind of like the Stanford pitcher. I think confidence will be key from the beginning for Kavan. If she comes in and trusts herself I could easily see her getting a lot of innings.
Teagan Kavan! It sure looks like we have someone special coming to Texas. I believe the game was on tv but I missed it. Hope to find the re-air.
I watched her game today and she didn’t get the victory but still has tremendous upside. She did walk a lot of batters but also has many strikeouts.
You would have to pay to watch the game. The games are streamed through athletes unlimited but since they lost in the final 4 her travel ball career is over.
She should’ve easily won MVP and she’s much faster than I thought. Stewart went 0-2 at the plate but her frame is so solid. She will be hitting straight bombs in Austin.
Teagan Kavan with other members of her Iowa Premier travel ball team with D-1 commitments. Lover her Burnt Orange Passion!
