That’s a lot of matches for the first season especially since Texas is playing indoor spring matches as well.
I see no home matches. Do I recall correctly the future home court will be on university property along Town Lake?
Normally this cold in beach volleyball??? I recall sand volleyball courts on university property by Town Lake.
How exactly did we end up here with a beach volleyball team & sending them to Hawaii and Cali beaches to be basically intramural level fodder for these teams? Putting together a brand new organization is tough and you tend to take whatever player you can get to just field the first few teams. I recall the rowing team being announced and having flyers posted where I worked because a lot of college kids worked there. It took about 25 years to become this elite program. Knowing that it seems like maybe we could have started a little closer to home with closer to our level of teams. In our first 6 matches we have won 3 sets out of 30 and playing out of our league teams. But seriously, why beach volleyball in Texas? Doesn't seem like a fit to me.
The number one ranked team is right up the road at TCU. I don’t know the sport very well, but have heard playing beach volleyball really helps players with their defensive skills.
Saw both beach and indoors play this weekend at TCU. I enjoyed both matches and on beach, Texas was keeping it interesting against the #1 team.....for the most part, anyways. : )
Appears this was a”feel it out year”. Of course it included over a week on the beaches in Hawaii and Southern California which isn’t a bad selling point for future recruits.
