Bold call with SMU in there!I’ll go Oregon/Texas and ND/SMU with championship being Oregon and SMU.
They should have byes for the #1 and #2 to the semifinal game. Same for #3 and #4 at the quarterfinal game, etc. In this way the regular season counts more. Rankings should be done by AP and computer rankings that use SOS. They had it right for the BCS.It’s weird to see (nat’l rankings) #s 9 and 12 getting first round byes (Boise St and ASU) while #s 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 have to win another game (Texas, ND, OSU, Tenn and Indiana) to get in.
The conference championship games are clearly a liability now and incentivize a less competitive schedule, which no CFB fan wants to watch.
We need to incentivize bold matchups and reward the risk, even in a close loss scenario there should be the SOS benefit.
The top four seeds out. However, Georgia didn’t have its starting QB, and if the rankings were reseeded after that—ala FSU last year—they would not have been #2. ASU and BSU were not realistically top 4 seeds in the first place. That leaves Oregon, who ran into the tOSU buzz saw, which was not really even an upset to me, but with their record, Oregon had to get the top seed.Funny how the teams with a BYE week, the playoffs said bye to them. Adios bro.

Agree, Dion. The Buckeyes got a wake-up call from Michigan, and it appears they took that wake-up call to heart and intensified their focus. OSU will be hard to beat - they're on a hot streak at the right time. Texas will have to play near-perfect football to have a chance to win.The Buckeyes look scary good right now
So go back to an 11 game "regular" season.I’ve enjoyed them too but feel like it’s too many games at 15. Never thought you’d ever hear me say that but something in my gut just says going past 13-14 games is too much on these kids.
Well, I have a hard time giving them much credit because our special teams have not been good against fake punts. In fact, they gave up big gains multiple times. Our special teams should never be caught with their pants down. There’s no excuse for that. And running into the kicker gave asu a first down that led to points. These mistakes simply cannot happen at this level and still expect to win.I have always thought for years that fake punts would easily be successful if you have a punter that can throw.
On a fourth and five for example: the runners on the out side charge down the field. They then stop on dime planting their feet come back to the ball. The defender's momentum will keep them moving downfield once they realize whats happening. It takes a lot of time to react by stopping and then going the other way. All the punter has to do is throw the ball with decent velocity, at the right time, chest level, and you have an 8 to 10 yard gain for a first down.
Why this play isnt done more often i dont know.
I just love the play design by ASU on their fake punt: moving the pocket over then letting one of the 3 blockers slip by the rushers. He is wide open with no defenders in front and he gallups down the sideline for long yardage. A thing of beauty.
Give ASU credit.
