I wasn't speaking of only west coast competition. There are a lot of campuses across this nation with huge NIL money, better television exposure, proven NFL placement, etc. Sure, Riley will dominate recruiting for the most part in the Pac12. But the most elite players from the west coast will be open to the whole country.
Moon, You have to live it to understand it. USC is THE University in the West. They either love SC or hate them as much as we hate OU, but all of the top athletic talent in the West either gets to go to SC or is ashamed to admit that they did not receive an offer. Ricky goes pro baseball then to Texas, wins the Heisman, but is nothing more than a footnote in Calfornia athletic lore.
Not sure I remember correctly, but I thought he was offered, but that USC was more focused on the kid that went to A&M - Sir Parker??
Q: Did he escape FROM Hobbs to USC or was he condemned TO Hobbs upon leaving USC? (Hobbs being a great place to be FROM.)
sa, He told me about being recruited in HS. He said his first visit was Jess Nealy at Rice. He looked around and all the students were well dressed, and his Wranglers & boots didn't fit in with all the buttondown oxford. Texas was his choice, but he said Ed Price was drunk the whole time he was supposed to be coaching the NM AllStar game, and when he visited Austin, he still hadn't sobered up. He went over to Brazos County, and there were NO women, and he thought he was in a cult. He and another guy went out to USC, and rich, beautiful women were everywhere. Being from Hobbs, he was totally unfamiliar with the beach and the "latest" in how not to cover the female body. Easy choice.
He WAS in a cult. Hobbs is Denver City with more people & (legal) alcohol. Congrats to your friend on his escape
#1 overall player for 2024 ... will visit Austin over Easter weekend New 2024 No. 1 overall prospect Dylan Raiola feeling no pressure heading into junior season Dylan Raiola, Chandler, Quarterback
great to hear ... need to win the trenches 4-Star EDGE KingJoseph Edwards has ‘exceptional’ visit with Texas KingJoseph Edwards, Buford, Tight End
Sayin was on campus today. 247 hearing the visit for QBJulian Sayin went "really well", and Texas is in a great position with a fall decision possible. Julian Sayin, Carlsbad, Quarterback
He walked around campus, making wise cracks followed by , “Ju’ sayin”. For example, “you Texas girls don’t know what ya missing’, ju’ sayin.”
I like when the skill players stand next to Sark as it is good barometer of height. Pretty tall this kid.
