A month or so ago someone posted on social media about the Texas Tech camp and how not a single school from Lubbock ISD was represented there which of course led to talk about recruiting Chavez. Sounds like they’ve already resigned themselves to the fact she’s not staying in Lubbock. Some claimed she wants to go out of state. I don’t know if that’s true or it’s their way of softening the blow of rejection.

Aaliyah Crump has been mentioned earlier in this thread. Blair retweeted this a couple of days ago: :hookem:

From ESPNs Rankings of the Top 10 HS Recruits regardless of class:

    No. 7 Aaliyah Chavez
    Point guard, 5-10
Monterey (TX) | Cy Fair Elite
    Class: 2025

Chavez is arguably the best shooter in the country. She is a three-level scorer who is consistent from the three, the pull-up jumper, the floater, and has a variety of finishing moves and foot work to the rim in her skill set. She hunts shots better than anybody at the high school level and knows how to create space for her jumper. She knows how to get to the free throw line and cashes in, and she pushes tempo by immediately putting pressure on the defense when she gets the outlet pass. She sees the floor well, and has a flair for playmaking that brings an entertainment and production combination that garners attention.

What can she add? As a talented guard, Chavez will learn the value of shot selection and efficiency as she ascends levels. Guards learn the value of getting off the ball and picking their spots as defenses get more disciplined and game plans get focused. She will learn that sometimes there is not a play to make, despite her complete skill set. Defensively, as she will be tasked with guarding a point guard or a two-guard, she will learn to be more locked in off the ball, as well as in ball-screen defense.

    Pro Comparison: Kelsey Plum

Jordan Lee was just outside of the Top 10 - she was mentioned in the "Also Considered" section.

A cool note. Jazzy Davidson's (#9) Pro Comparison was Ariel Atkins.

Getting 2024 Justice Carlton from Cy-Fair Elite club can only help with Aaliyah Chavez. Here's hoping she wants to stay in-state and play college in the SEC (at Texas not A&M)

It's one thing to get unofficial visits from recruits within our state borders; but this list is very impressive when you consider that half are from states where the families most likely are having to fit the bill for airfare and hotels during a busy home football weekend (when hotel prices generally get increased due to demand). It might be the most talent-infested collection of girls hoops recruits ever at Texas:

    2026
PG Aaliyah Chavez (Lubbock, Texas) -- No. 1 overall
G Darianna (Dee) Alexander (Ohio) -- No. 4 overall
G Aaliyah Crump (Minnesota) -- No. 6 overall

    2026
G Addison Bjorn (Missouri) -- No. 8 overall
G Jacy Abii (Frisco, Texas) -- No. 9 overall
    G Amayah Garcia (Desoto, TX)

I haven't paid much attention to the 2026 recruiting class. Looking at 5'11 G/F Amayah Garcia's twitter page, she already has scholarship offers from the likes of Oregon, UCLA, North Carolina, Louisville, Florida State, Baylor, and many others.

Not sure I'm understanding the "2 10". Is she announcing a Top 2, Top 10, or Top 20? I assume a Top 10; and, announcing it tonight at 10 PM. I will guess:

    - Texas
    - Texas Tech
    - Oklahoma
    - UConn
    - LSU
    - South Carolina
    - Arizona
    - UCLA
    - Louisville
    - Tennessee

Maybe the "2" represents her jersey number.

I recall her liking a lot of Ole Miss tweets a while back; so, they could easily be on her list.

I assume they only get 5 officials? From her IG account, I only see Texas as an official where she posted photos. Guessing that she still has 4 more trips to make.

New rule started earlier this year. Recruits can take as many official visits as they want; just can't take more than one to same school.

Since Chavez is 2025, she is not yet allowed to take official visits; so, this weekend's visit was unofficial (she and her family paid their own way).

But, yes, she didn't post any photos on twitter or IG after her unofficial visit to Tech three weeks ago or so; only Texas. I don't think she has taken many other unofficial visits the last year. I recall her posting about a visit to OU; maybe LSU, Arkansas, and Baylor (but not positive).

The good news is that she was here at Texas this weekend with her family, spending time with our staff and players, and mingling with other elite recruiting visitors.

Didn't Chavez also come for an unofficial last year and attend a football game, or am I mistaken?

My worry with her recruitment has always been Vic’s coaching style. Will he let her be her? I can’t recall him having a player with her “flash” before. Anyone’s memory a little better than mine?

IMO Vic wouldn't have a problem with "flash" as long as the player kept a team-first mindset, followed the scout/game plan, and her style of play didn't lead to a high number of unnecessary turnovers -- one of his biggest pet peeves.
