2025 SEC Softball Tournament

All of the higher seated team won today in the first round of the tournament.
Georgia 8 - Kentucky 0.
Alabama 3 - Auburn 2
Ole Miss 1 - Missouri 0.
Missouri will be the only SEC team to miss the NCAA’s because they have a losing record of 25-31. They rank 32nd in the NCAA RPI ranking and ahead of Kentucky but you have to have a winning record to get in.

Ole Miss plays Florida at 4pm on Wednesday to see who we play on Thursday.
 
LSU beats Miss State 5-0 and moves on to play ou. Go Tigers !
Arkansas wins over Georgia 5-1 on a walk off home run by Bri Ellis. Courtney Day also had a Home run in the game. A really exciting game. Arkansas moves on to play the Vols.
We sure could have used Courtney this year!
 
UPSET ALERT: Ole Miss 6 - Florida 3 in 8 innings. Winning 2 out of 3 from the Okies must have taken it out of the gators! Florida looked flat both pitching and hitting. Texas will get Ole Miss after they have already played 2 games! Brianna Lopez started both of those games and is their ace! Aliyah Binford (ex-Baylor) came in for 2 innings and gave up 2 home runs for Ole Miss. We will probably see Lopez start against us!! She has a wicked change up, our kryptonite.

Yes I see it that way. The change up will be on our minds. In addition Ole Miss can hit. A scary team with nothing to lose. They have momentum. Also, we haven't played in awhile. Rust? Will MW dare to start Morgan and save Kavan for A&M or go with Karan and get the first win.

How many high school state semifinals baseball teams saved their ace for the championship game and didn’t get there.
You can’t look past Ole Miss. I’d hafta go with Kavan and do our best to win today.

Anyone notice who was pitching for OleMiss? The former Baylor pitcher Aliyah Binford (Hooray for her) . Hometown New Braunfels, TX. :hookem:
 
The Okies handled LSU 4-1 in the 10am game. My memory of Sam Landry at Louisiana Lafayette was that she was just an ok pitcher. It seems like she has gotten much better since transferring to ou. Maybe ou has a pitching coach that coached her up? She pitched the complete game against LSU, 125 pitch count, and she got into some tight spots with walks. Makes me wonder if the Okies will go with her tomorrow? Deal threw against us in game 2 and we didn’t handle her very well!
 
Upset alert! Arkansas 6 - Tennessee 1. Arky got 2 runs on a throwing error and then got a grand slam off of Pickens in the 6th. Might be an interesting matchup with Oklahoma. OU beat them all three games at Arkansas during the season.

In the pregame interview with Andrew Haynes he asked Coach White about getting a top 8 seed. Coach White said Texas needed to win today to pretty much confirm we get the top 8 seed. Only then would he feel completely confident.

Was fixing to say we don’t want to sit on this 4-0 lead and need some insurance runs when Henry goes yard plating 2.

Another business like game. Team showed no panic...like they had been here before. Bigger games ahead.

For a while, I was having flashbacks of Sarks “2nd half meltdown” football games. So glad Miss reliable Mia Scott saved Longhorns softball for another game. :hookem:
 
Feels like MW got outcoached tonight. Not sure I understand the pitching decisions tonight or some of the plate appearances. Kagan has to be able to keep a 4 run lead.

Almost lost that one, but at the same time I didn't see a ton of panic. We better be careful tomorrow. Aggies are playing really well right now.

Too be honest Kagan probably hates Texas and the freedom Texas stands for, but our team and coaches certainly have to do a better job of holding a lead.
