2025 Softball Season

As I was watching the replay again, I noticed that the first base coach and the player were yukking it up

And then later, it seemed the runner was trying to say, "nothing personal, but you were in the way" and Joley wouldn't even look at her and waved her away like, "Whatever"

I take this way of running as a "it's legal, but not classy approach" like some teams always slide towards a base with their spikes up in order to affect the tag.

The questions I have are:
1. If this was legal then why wasn't she given second base for a true base running interference?
2. And if it was legal, then why would LSU be given a team warning? Which is a joke (like a yellow card in volleyball).

I know I'm getting petty. But if she had injured Joley, then Joley wouldn't have hit the typing HR the next inning. Plus Joely got pulled due to a hit on her wrist in the last game against Tennessee.
 
Mac gives up 2 in the 1st. I don't know why she's starting when Citlaly has a much better ERA. I had a nightmare about Mac.
 
And Hunter? Even a slumping Goode is better than Hunter, and so is Quiroga. And she just made a horrible base running error giving lsu a double play.
 
Mac isn't perfect but she is not our reason for.....
If we don't hit, give our pitchers some type of lead we can't win.
 
On a lighter note I think we have much help coming in the next couple of years to address our pitching/hitting depth
 
The record book will say Mac was losing pitcher but only gave up 2 runs. LSU scored 6 runs but we lost cause our situational hitting wasn't there today.
Got a quick turn around with that 11:00am start in the morning.

Hunter's physique makes it look like she's going to knock the cover off the ball, only to find that she hits pop ups and grounders in the infield. Mike still hasn't learned that after two years.

And Quiroga? Mike thinks because she hit two grand slams in a row that she's got that magic swing when they need it.

For both of them, not enough of at-bats in the year to justify that sort of confidence in them.
 
Runners on first and third Mike and Steve make time to talk to Bennett. We only have one out. Don't hit into a double play. Get the ball up and and out of the infield. Pop-up to the short stop, double the runner at first.

Bases loaded, subs in Quiroga for Hunter. Mike tells her hit it deep. Grounder to short stop.

Situational hitting which we've seen this season, pffft, gone.
 
I sure hope the appearance by Cam Salmon gives her and the Coaches a little confidence in her ability. We need her help desperately! She was throwing with good velocity and spotting her pitches where she wanted them. Pretty sure she will get another look soon.
The fact is she and all our pitching staff that did so well in the Big 12 last year is now pitching against the SEC teams that are mostly top 10 in the NCAA! Competition is ALOT tougher now!

I think if we just gave our pitchers a little something to work with like a LEAD some loses would become wins. Even Teagan can't hold up like this.

I noticed today that her pitching motion is different than how it was when she came in. Hopefully she’ll get more game time, the more experience she gets the better she’ll be, and we need a strong hurler like her
 
I didn't watch the game, just read this thread. Reading these posts I'd swear we are among the worst teams in the MAC. For crimeny sake, people, lighten up, get a life. We are nowhere near ad bad as some on here make us sound. Even if we were, this is college softball, not Armageddon. EVERYBODY has a bad game if they play long enough.
 
This is just my opinion but our weakest links are Bennett and Goode, both offensively and defensively. It really sucks that Vivi got injured but it surprises me that we don't have a better backup option for SS.
Both make too many errors in the field and are liabilities at the plate.
Also, Hunter has been a big disappointment at DH. Sure wish we had better, more productive hitters for that role.
 
With all that said above, we are still a VERY solid team that can make it to the WCWS if all of the pieces come together at the right time.
We know our potential. Every player has a bad game every now & then, but it's the great teams that can pull it together, lift each other up & put wins on the board even when one or two players are "off" that day
 
Being a college athlete can be one of the most stressful times. Compounded with the pressure from this type of social media can probably be overwhelming. I wish some here would think about that before calling out athletes negatively by name. I love my school but no matter the sport....its just a game.

It’s really just our offense in my opinion, especially the bottom of the lineup. I feel like the bottom of the lineup is a completely different team compared to the top 5
