Way to pull it together at the line in a hostile environment when nothing else seemed to be going right.

Is it possible to give the coaching staff credit for this? Or do we only give credit to the coaches when it's negative?

Just a wild guess, but I doubt this has anything to do with an extraordinary effort on the coaching staff's part to improve free throw shooting.

Good first step. Now if we could develop one consistent outside shooter and a presence inside the lane. I wouldn't hold your breath, RB's player development takes longer than a player has eligibility.

Player development is the last thing anybody should be criticizing Barnes for. It's like we're just pulling out random basketball- or sports-related terms and blaming him for them at this point.

    82% against OU.

Again with the question: as you have all continuously pointed out, it was obviously the coaching staff's fault for the poor free throw shooting in the beginning of the season. Do they now get the credit for the turnaround?

Tell me please oh wise ones!

2 games does not constitute a turnaround, but its a good start. I don't just blame coaching for the poor free throw shooting, most of this teams problems are between the ears of the players.

As someone points out on this board (bierce maybe) this teams basketball IQ is not very high.

FT shooting seems to have improved. Obviously Balbay out helps. Mason getting more playing time again but he doesn't really get to the FT line much anyways.

James, Pittman, Johnson are the 3 noticable improvements the last 2 games. Combined they are 24/30 the last 2 games. Pittman is 6-6!!! So not only are our big guys getting to the line, they are making them!!

Well, Max, so you are conceding that when we see a statistic that is something like 316th out of 325 total basketball teams in the nation (and do we think we've even heard of the schools fielding five guys on a team where those other nine worse performers are--do they give scholarships?) that it is a coaching issue that should be discussed?

Okay, fine. Good job with the free throws yesterday. Take a bow. It's funny that you are the one with the defensiveness.

They obviously spent too much time on free throw shooting practice last week.

Free throw shooting hasnt been the coaches fault all year IMO....thats all on the players. However, a lack of a halfcourt offense (which has been the case for the last 2 years) is 100% on Rick Barnes.

It doesn't matter. We have proven that our problems on the basketball court far outweigh the gain we are getting from our improved shooting from the line. We couldn't have been any more pitiful in our last regular season game against Baylor.
