Ags at Horns

Terry’s actions in the handshake line were unacceptable from a head coach or any coach representing The University. Very similar to mensa binder boy’s behavior and really was unacceptable from a coach at any level).
I can understand Terry’s excitement at the comeback. Since Chop is not in charge of hiring and firing Texas head basketball coach, Terry has to be feeling the heat. If he out coached the aggy coach the second half what hell was he doing for the first twenty minutes. It would kinda be nice if he coached the team not to wait until they have a twenty point deficit to decide to play (see games against Tenn., Auburn, Florida), or to keep doing the things you did when you had a lead (see Mizzou and the land thieves).

I missed what occurred. Can someone describe what Terry did or did not do?

Terry has figured out that as long as you don’t allegedly hit your crazy girlfriend, it’s hard to get fired at Texas for on the court antics.

I hate gloating. The culture of taunting and over-celebrating is pathetic to me. It's not what I teach my kids.

"Act like you've been there before."

Sure, it was a big comeback and it was against aggy, but in this instance, there was zero introspection or context as to who you are and what you have done. You're not there yet. You could get fired for your overall results. Rein in the emotions.

The worst is the type of gloating that occurs when you score a TD or something and your team is getting destroyed on the scoreboard. It's a look at me thing and in a sense, the gloating in that scenario is like saying, "My team sucks but I don't."

⬆️ @bystander this is fundamentally what culture is, no?

It starts at the top and I think Rodney Terry could look no further than Sark for a first rate example. CdC could lead an effort on this across all athletics. Good sportsmanship is all the more impressive in an instant gratification, me-first society imo.

Sportsmanship has gone out of style for some reason. I guess, as you say, it's the me-first society. Everyone wants to go viral. The division between all of us is being encouraged in sports. Planting flags on the field of the opponents. Trotting down to the end-zone in masse to dance. That's when I go get another beer.
