The Alabama Crimson Tide will be moving forward with a new quarterback after Jalen Milroe's struggles against Texas this past weekend.

Former Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner will be taking the snaps under center for the Tide against South Florida tomorrow. Buchner previously started for the Fighting Irish under then-offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, who now has the same role at Alabama.

I thought Milroe looked the best of the three

After seeing what the Texas D did to Milroe, qb’s 2 and 3 best thank their lucky stars he stayed upright and was able to finish the game.
Bama is in deep doo doo if a somewhat successful season and future hinge on those two.

Saban made an uncharacteristic bad decision with that change.
Just because they lost to us, they had to find a scapegoat.

Who thinks Saban is looking for a transfer for next year?

Postgame interview, Saban said he named the starter based on who practiced best during the week.
Today he named Milroe the starter for this week. Guess Milroe had a great Monday workout.

Im wrong a lot, but when Bama benched Milroe I felt it was a bad decision.
Milroe is solid, the Bama fan base is not.

Yeah I thought at the time had Milroe run more it would have been a much tighter game. His deep ball is good and his errors imo should be correctable with some good coaching. Maybe I’m proven wrong but I think he’s going to be dangerous with coaching and enough game time experience. A good running qb is money.

I was surprised at how few college games Milroe has started - somewhere read it was like 3?
    Anyone know for sure?

Just checked - 3 starts total, hadn't really played a lot before this year, either.

    Nash,

You stopped just short of a first in football. No one has ever used "good coaching" and "Tommy Rees" in the same statement

Saban is looking for the retirement life at his new $18M home in Jupiter Island next year. Don't be shocked if Sark is at or near the top of replacement list for AD Greg Byrne.

I would hope Sark understands that as bad as the UT fanbase is, Bama is on a different level.
10 minutes on Finebaum proves my point.
Once UT proves it is ‘back’, I feel the recruitment will be world class in Austin.

If one has the time and patience, they can review legacy posts where I argued for VY, Colt and yessir Sam as examples of good QBs as some of the hothead fans calling for whomever QB2 was at the time.

Saban isn't an idiot. This past weekend was a calculated move to show the Bama faithful that the depth behind Milroe is **** so that they stop asking for the change. I don't think they knew how "dry" it would be on offense against USF, but walking out of Tampa with a W was preordained anyhow. Now he gets Lane at home and he's probably going to roll Ole Miss while taking out frustrations.
