Undoubtedly this is a pressure ploy on Pettite by McNamee's lawyer but he claims that Pettite is expected to testify to Congress that he had conversations about HGH with Clemens. He infers that Pettite started using HGH on the advice of Clemens.

Was HGH "illegal" at this time?

The thing is that HGH is used by tons of people all over the USA. These news stories about anti-aging doctors prescribing HGH makes you wonder how come an average person can use it, but an athlete can't. (Kind of like when that guy had to drop out of the Tour de France a few years ago because of BEE STINGS and he needed a cortisone shot, but cortisone is illegal in cycling. Taking stupidity to here-to-fore unheard of levels to combat cheating.)

My positition on HGH being stated, I think that Roger has cheated for years. Steroids (cheating) and HGH (debatable whether it was cheating) and late starts to the season (after testing and/or saving himself from Spring Training and 2 months of the season) were all part of his plan to stay effective.

Late Season Starts (baseball) = Limited Race Schedule (cycling)

    They both allow for cheating.
