To be fair, she only got something like 15,000 votes. In the NYC area, people are crushed together pretty quickly and they are very tribalistic which means that all the hipsters want to live with other hipsters (for example), so there are plenty of pockets where a tiny little apathetic district can scrape together a handful of SJW hand-puppets and win an election.

Before she announced the Green New Deal, she wept on camera this week, She was crying because of the 7 year old immigrant who died at the border a month or so ago while in U.S. custody. She didn't mention or blame the child's parents, who drug her thousands of miles from their ******** country to U.S. border and who admitted she'd been sick. She just blamed ICE. She vowed to defund them. She's crazy and her ideas are dangerous to America.
I think we are being bamboozled. This GND is as deliberately out there as it can get so everyone will talk about how extreme it is. When the next socialist plan comes along (and it will) it will seem moderate by comparison. AOC did not write this by herself . I think it is part of a scheme. They are all laughing and happy at the reaction they are getting.
Andrew Klavan had the perfect point on her and sadly I think sums up her political status pretty well. When you're very pretty, you can say pretty much whatever you want growing up, and none of your peers (at least not your male ones) are going to call you out on it other than to maybe mildly disagree. You can say anything, put out any theory, and it will instantly be given consideration by guys who are trying to impress you. Basically no one that she has actually spent any time with socially has ever told her what she's saying is ridiculous.
I don't get why people say she is hot. To me she is below average. Maybe it's the smugness that I know is behind her smile. Thomas Sowell said, "You can't argue facts with someone who is enjoying the ignorance of their moral superiority." Man, if that's not AOC, I don't know what is.

What we are seeing is a generation who was spoon fed liberal propaganda in the classroom since childhood. Liberals figured out that they cannot win an argument with an intelligent adult so their best bet is to indoctrinate children and young adults. Furthermore, they silence any dissenting voices by painting conservatives as hateful, intolerant, racist, sexist. There is a reason why leftists oppose school choice with every fiber in their being. It would threaten the foundation of their indoctrination machine. It really was a brilliant and transparent strategy. It angers me that conservatives allowed it and continue to allow it.
But this has been going on for a lot longer than these millenials have been on the scene. I say it is social media and the opportunity it brings for virtue signaling gratification that is making it stick this time.

To support your argument my daughter asked to go to the bathroom and her teacher replied, "Why did you even ask, you have white privilege so do what you want.". That's just one of many examples of comments and remarks that happen weekly. She's afraid to say anything because it will be held against her. We complained to the principal and nothing happened. All the comments are intertwined with the lessons and discussion.

That teacher needs to be told to keep her ******** politics to herself and do her job. If she won't, she sound get fired. If a teacher of mine had said that, I would have said, "I'm not sure what you mean, but I am sure I need to urinate. Should I go to the bathroom, or should I do it here. And if in here, should I use the bucket or the carpet?"
Just posting the facts. IMHO, the biggest factor in the long-running high inflation and economic mess of the 1970s was the aftermath of the OPEC oil embargo led by the Saudis and their henchmen. While it was actually great for Texas (an oil and gas economy with much less diversification at that time), it was bad for the nation as a whole. Other things, including the political, certainly factored in (Ford doing little or nothing, Carter's ineptitude, crazies in Iran, etc.), but the big price shock and sustained rising high oil costs would be hard for any policy to overcome until that was checked. Nixon's wage and price controls were an insignificant blip in the bigger 1970s picture. Of course, when the pendulum swung back in the other direction in the 1980s, it devastated much of our State, but did lead to the diversification of the Texas economy.
