Planning on going to New England in the Fall. Want to stay in Bar Harbor. Any suggestions for a nice hotel with an ocean view?
i am envious. I stayed in Boothbay Harbor, so i won't be too much help. That is a beautiful time of year. I have "somewhat" fond memories of visiting in early October (OU weekend) and taking a break from my vacation to in order to find a dingy Maine working class bar to watch evil Roy Williams superman Chris Simms. anyway... for what it's worth, at Trip Advisor, readers rank Saltair Inn Waterfront B&B as #1 BB in Bar Harbor. The reviews are glowing. Looks to have water views from the photos. The Link also, Tripadvisor ranks The Bayview as #1 under "Hotels", but it pretty much looks like a B&B. Looks like the rooms there are right on the water in the photos. The Link

Definitely spend some time at Acadia NP. It's among the most scenic places I've ever visited and there are a number of very good outdoor activities available, depending on what you like to do. Ditto seeing the sun setting from Mt. Cadillac.
I plan on spending a day in the Acadia National Park. The photos look awesome. Just hope I catch the fall colors at peak time. Made reservations at the Bayview.
Stayed at the Harborside Hotel a couple of years ago. Rooms were nice and a good size. Bar Harbor itself IMO is kind of "meh". There's a pizza place there that the locals loved. I don't recall the name but its in central BH, just ask around. Acadia is a must see and the trip up Cadillac Mountain is worth the effort. I can only imagine what the views will be like in the fall. When in Maine....be sure to check out the lighthouses. Just do a Google search and take your pick. Freeport is basically one big outlet mall (home of LL Bean), but its worth the stop. Bath is a really cool little town. There's an Irish pub in the center of town that draws in a lot of the Navy guys whose ships are at the Bath Iron Works. Lot's a security around the BIW, but its worth trying to get close and catch a look at what's going on.
