Need some help. Celebrating my wife's 40th on Saturday -- limo with several couples, dinner out, then downtown to bars. I work downtown and have been to many of the places in the Warehouse District and West 6th, but don't hang out there weekend nights. We'll have 14-16 people in the party, all late 30s/early 40s. Where do you suggest we might go where we oldsters won't feel too out of place. Dress is nice, but casual, for us.
Both of those hotel bars also happen to be the only bars in town where I've seen hookers actively working the room, so there's that. I'm near that age. I drink almost exclusively at the Little Longhorn. But I have no class or style.
She's been to Cool River. And, by the way, I have to say she's hot for 40 -- gets hit on a lot. After dinner (Jasper's) we actually went to The Ranch for awhile, then to Speakeasy (they had an 80s cover band playing so, though crowded, the music was perfect)
The Band of Heathens is playing at the Oasis on Saturday Night. If you haven't caught them, they're pretty damn awesome. And speaking as a fellow 40-something, you'll feel cooler just knowing about a local band on the rise.
