Baylor and Texas try to keep their season alive in the loser's bracket. Texas tries to avoid the worst season in the history of Texas Baseball. The 1998 record of 23-32-1 is the worst I can find, since the Horns started playing more than just a handful of games. The record at present is 22-31.

It's been a nightmare of a season for Texas, will it end today, or will the Horns keep dreaming of winning this Tournament?

Seeds are still holding up, as OU with a 11-6 lead over KSU in the ninth, is poised to keep that streak going.

Lots of bad weather moving in on me from the west, if I go dark on you, a power outage is the reason.

    Off for the line-ups:

NB, Thanks so much for suffering through this nightmare season. Baylor canned Briles today, hope we can send Augie to the food network for his golden years.

The worst is having to watch some OU football preview, while waiting for the baseball game to start.

Lightning here took out Stoops once, but he is back up now. Mother nature is really starting to act up now in northeast Texas.

Texas loses the coin flip, par for the course this year, so they are the visiting team again today.

Drew Tolson will get the start on the hill, for the Bears, as I lose the tv feed again, as a thunderstorm is now right overhead here.

Tolson is a right hander, with a 4.93 era and a 6-3 record.

Ty Rand leads off for the Horns, playing left field, from the right side.
He grounds a single through the left side, for a single and a lead runner.

The centerfielder is Zane Gurwitz, batting righty, with a man on.
A pickoff throw to first gets away, the E-1 will put Rand on second.
No bunt now and a liner to right is one away.

The DH is Travis Jones, batting righty, with a man on and one away.
A flair to center will fall and the single will score the run. Jones to second, on the throw home.

    Texas leads 1-0.

The catcher is Tres Barrera, batting righty, with a runner on, one away.
A high pop to short and it's two down.

Kacy Clemens bats lefty, with one on and two outs.
A little liner to left drops and shorthops the left fielder, that allows another run to score, on the single, again the throw home allows the batter to go to second.

    Texas leads 2-0.

Patrick Mathis bats lefty, with one on and two gone, the right fielder.
He drives a liner to the gap in left center, it rolls to the fence, it's a triple and another run.

    Texas leads 3-0.

The shortstop is Bret Boswell, batting lefty, with a man on and two down. You kind of figured he would start today, after Baker was removed during an inning last night.
A hopper to first and the 3U will end the frame.

Texas gets three and takes a 3-0 lead, as Baylor comes to bat.

Up 3-0......after 1/2 inning....Instead of feeling like we have this game well in hand, we sit and wait for the choke-fest to begin.

Morgan Cooper, the sophomore right hander, will get the start for the Horns today.

Third baseman is Steven McLean, batting right handed, leading off for the Bears.
He K's looking, on a fast ball, on the outside corner, one away.

Justin Arrington will bat lefty, with an out, the second baseman.
He grounds a ball off of Cooper, it goes toward second, but no play, an infield hit.

The catcher is righty hitter, Matt Menard, the Bear's big power hitter, with one away and one on.
He grounds a ball off of a diving Clemens glove by third base, another infield hit, for two aboard.

Kameron Esthay bats lefty, with two on and one out, the left fielder.
A fly ball to right is two down, runner tags at second and goes to third.

Runners on the corners, with two outs for Darryn Sheppard, batting righty, the DH.
He lits a fly ball to left and that ends the inning.

Baylor threatens, but nothing across, so after one it's Texas 3-0.

Tolson is out for his third inning of work.

Gurwitz leads off batting righty, for the Horns.
A hopper off McLean is ruled an infield hit, on a really tough hop, an infield hit, for a lead runner.

Righty hitter is Jones, with a man on.
A wild pitch sends the runner to second.
A walk will put two on,

Barrera bats righty, with two aboard.
A fly ball to left and the wind will help that sail out out of the park, for a three run homer.

    Texas leads 6-0.

Kacy Clemens bats lefty, with three runs in.
Another fly ball to center and that is gone, it's a shooting gallery today.

    Texas leads 7-0.

Lefty hitter is Mathis, with four runs in.
A fly ball to right center and it carries to the edge of the track, but caught, one away.

Boswell bats lefty, with an out.
He walks and why Tolson is still around is a mystery to me.

Mystery solved, as now a pitching change is made.

The new Baylor hurler is Kyle Hill, a right hander.

Cooper back after a long wait, to pitch the third.

Richard Cunningham, the centerfielder, will lead off, batting righty, for Baylor.
A high pop behind second base and lost by Boswell, it drops, since he didn't touch it, they call it a double, but needed to have been caught.

Top of the order is McLean, batting righty, with a man on.
He lines a single to right, to put runners on the corners.

Arrington bats lefty, with two on.
He sends a fly ball to shallow left, one away, the runners hold.

A grounder to first and that retires the side.

Cooper does a good job, after the misplayed pop up, the Bears get on the board, but Texas leads 7-1, after three.

How many runs will we have to score for our pitching staff/bullpen today?
    12?.....15?....18?....
Worst pitching staff at UT I've ever seen.
When Ship skips to the mound to change pitchers, the probability of that relief pitcher getting the batter out is 3 in 10. Couple that with the fielding errors (20'something by the pitchers alone), and this sure made for an embarrassing season.
    Uggh!

Hill is back on the bump, for the Bears, in the fourth.

Gurwitz leads off, batting righty, for the Horns.
He walks, for a lead runner.

The DH is Jones, batting righty, with a man on.
A shallow fly ball to right and it's one down.

Yet the pitching staff outperforms the hitting ever year, your stuff is old, and still nonsense, trying to deflect blame from Augie. Just go away.

Barrera bats righty with one on and one out.
A high pop to short and it's dropped but it's a fielder's choice, 6U, two away.

Kacy Clemens bats lefty, with one on and two outs.
He walks to put two on.

    Pitching change.

Tunnell bats lefty, with two outs.
He K's swinging, on the curve ball, the side down in order.

    After four, Texas leads 7-1.

Ott is back for another go, for Baylor, in the fifth.

The Horns lead off with lefty hittting Boswell.
Fly ball to right center and it's over the centerfielder's head, it rattles around and is a lead triple.

Cooper stays in for the fifth, hoping to become the pitcher of record.

Cooper toils on, trying to go as long as possible, saving some arms, for maybe a long road ahead.

Baylor sends up lefty hitter Kameron Esthay, leading off.
A very high pop, on the right side and it's one down.

Sheppard bats righty, with one out.
He sends a fly ball to left, in that jet stream and it's out for a homer.

    Texas leads 8-3.

Righty hitter is Dodson, with an out.
He grounds a single up the middle.

Tunnell bats lefty, with an out and one on.
Grounder to second and the 4U-3 double play ends the inning.

Baylor tacks on a run, Texas still leads 8-3, after six.

Drew Robinson, a right hander, with an era of 4.15, is the new Baylor pitcher.

Texas leads off with Boswell, batting lefty.
A full count and he walks, for a lead runner.

Kody Clemens bats lefty, with a man on.
Not bunting and another full count.
He swings through a fast ball, for a K, one away.

Bottom of the order is McKenzie, batting righty, with one on and one out.
A bloop to right field and it falls between three Bears, the single puts two on.

Top of the order is Rand, batting righty, with two on and one out.
A liner to center and it's caught and the throw back to second is just late, so it's two gone.

Gurwitz bats righty, with two outs and two on.
He walks to load the bases.

Jones bats, withe bases full and two outs.
A liner up the middle is a single and it will plate two runs.

    Texas leads 10-3.

It brings up Barrera, batting righty, with two on and two outs.
He sends a drive to left center, in the gap, the double scores one more.

    Texas leads 11-3.

    Another pitching change is made.

  27. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

The latest pitcher for the Bears is Nick Lewis, a right hander.

Two on and two outs for Kacy Clemens, batting lefty.
A liner to right is a single and another run, the throw home is to the backstop and it sends Clemens to sec.
ond. Should be a single and an error on the right fielder, but nobody cares.

    Texas leads 12-3.

A grounder to short and thrown away at first, for a E-6, this looks like last night in reverse.

Kody Clemens bats lefty, with a man on and two outs.
He grounds to second and the 4-6 force will finally end the frame.

Texas unloads and leads 15-3, as they stretch in OKC, probably hoping for the run rule, to end the madness of runs, in these first two games.

Cooper pitches the seventh and tries to close out the game, saving some arms.

Baylor leads off with Bissonette, batting righty.
He grounds a single up the middle, for a lead runner.

Lefty hitter is Cunningham, the nine hole hitter, with a man on.
A ground ball will get through the right side, for a single and put two on.

Top of the order is McLean, with two on.
A grounder to short goes 6-4-3, for a double play, for two down. Interfence is called on Baylor, so the runner has to go back to second, from third, as if that matters. It's the rule, as the annoucners make a big deal of this.

Arrington bats righty, with one on and two outs.
A fly ball to left ends the game.

Texas wins on the run rule 15-3 to stave off elimination and extend the their season. Back in a bit.

Texas exacts some revenge on Baylor and Drew Tolson today, after they got the best of Horns in Austin.

Cooper goes the distance and the Horns unloaded against Tolson and various Baylor pitchers, for 15 runs on 15 hits.

So now all the Horns have to do is win three straight games, against some combination of TCU/OSU, to reach the Championship game. I guess stranger things have happened, but not this season, so far.

Texas now faces the loser of the OSU vs. TCU winner's bracket game later tonight.

This game takes places tomorrow, at 7 pm. Our work is not done yet, back tomorrow. :hookem2::bevo:
