I'm really excited about the beer list for tonight. I'm hoping they have a sampler of each type/style so that I can gravitate toward beers of a certain style. If a majority of the beers are bottled, I doubt they have a sampler.

Zappa Lagunitas Ale at Whip In.

Special Ale released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Zappa's "Lumpy Gravy".

It is outstanding and very limited per the brew guy at WI.

American Brown Ale / 7.20% ABV

Re: corsendonk hoppiness or lack thereof. It's not especially hoppy, but I believe that that particular beer uses Alsatian strisselspalt hops at least as an aroma hop, because of the aromatic similarity to Kronenberg. It's not at all strong, but it is very distinctive.

I spent 6 weeks in Prague. Bernard is amazing. Best beer I had in Europe.

Altenmunster Winterbier Dopplebock. I had a huge 2 liter bottle of it last night. Good stuff.

Yeah, the prices really add up when they're charging $9-$15 per 33cl bottle. [IMG]

When I was in Belgium, they sold most of their beers around $1/bottle, except for highly desirable imports like Corona, Budweiser (the bad one), and Coors Extra Gold, which were going for $3-$5/bottle. And those crazy Euros were DRINKING that swill. [IMG]

Breckenridge 471 IPA is the best IPA Iv've had. I like it better than Full Sail and Dogfish. Bonus: Its 9.2% Alcohol.[IMG]

    Some great suggestions.

I love the Victory beers, and the Storm King is one of my all-time favorites. I'd say that Victory and Magic Hat are tops among eastern breweries -- wish we could get Magic Hat in TX.

Haven't seen any love for Great Divide yet -- I am presently sipping their Fresh Hop Pale Ale and it is fanfuckingtastic. Much milder than it sounds, and much less of a hop donkey-punch than their IPAs.

Had the Saisson Dupont with lunch today. AWESOMELY AWESOME. Then I followed that up with some Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout. This was really good too but the Dupont was better for a light lunch.

Actually, I think I've had one of the St. Bernardus beers before at Flying Saucer while doing the Belgian Flight. I can't remember that night too well, so I'll try it again or pick it up at Whole Food.

    Thanks for the info.
