Can’t afford tickets and it pisses me off. Before anyone mentions the <$100 ones in top section, wife won’t sit up there - unable to see a thing from there.
Tickets are usually not too hard to find closer to game. Hopefully you’ll find reasonable priced tics.
Sorry, Horn Fans. Washington as a bowl opponent does nothing for me. Help me out to generate some enthusiasm.
Let's see, they stole Willis Mackey from us at the last minute, but they thought we stole Eric Metcalf from them. (Although his mother and her family lived in Seattle and his cousins played at UW, he never gave them serious consideration.)
This is a tough match up for us. UW’s QB shreds zone defenses for breakfast. Who has the #1 passing offense in college football…???
Win one more game and it’s sugar bowl regardless if win or lose the CCG. Note all 3 conference losses were the WTF? variety. Granted the ISU and KSU games were WTF as well but victories.
The great thing about bowl games is the experience for the kids. A ton of swag. These kids deserve this.
I actually scored an Alamo Bowl watch from a player (that shall remain nameless). One of the coolest watches I own.
First college football game I ever attended, first Texas Longhorn game I ever attended, was the 1979 Sun Bowl as I saw Texas lose to Washington 14-7. But that day 9 year old me was mesmerized by the Eyes of Texas, the hook em hand gesture and Bevo and I became a Longhorn fan and eventually got to follow my dream and get not one but two degrees from UT. It all goes back to that Longhorn-Huskies matchup in El Paso. I was fortunate enough to be in the stands in San Diego 22 years later and see Texas avenge the Sun Bowl loss with one of the most fantastic fourth quarters I have ever seen. My Father in Law (who is a fantastic grandfather to my kids and has come to many UT games with me) is a UW grad so we will probably watch it together and I am really looking forward to this one.
With four weeks to prepare — primarily for Ewers and the young OL — unless too many key players don’t play (and I’m thinking mostly about our D), I think we win this game, somewhat easily.
My brother and I drove to San Diego back in the day to see Major Applewhite lead us to victory over UW in the Holiday Bowl. Id wager we will head down to SA for another shot at em - we are 20 years older now but the drive is not so far this time.
Groundhog’s day. I think this will be Roschon’s 3rd Alamo bowl. This year we blew opportunities. Washington on paper is very solid. Ewers will have to throw.
Seems pointless to me. Take a 70 mile trip south to San Antonio, play in an old junk stadium in a bowl game that means nothing. At least Washington gets to travel and to them it's probably seems like a bigger deal. Heck, Middle Tennessee gets to go to Hawaii. I know I know....but the extra weeks of practice....that doesn't matter.
SA is a fantastic place to enjoy, particularly the river walk, Pearl and Southtown which are all in and around downtown where the Alamodome is located. Food, booze and party atmosphere in general.
