GWB has worked very, very hard for this approval ranking.

He's earned every rating point.

Back when Bob Dole lost out to Bill Clinton in the mid-90s and many republicans were crying names like "Newt Gingrich" and "Alan Keyes" (seems like a long time ago) for president, I was telling people to keep an eye on GWB as a potential presidential candidate. (And I was living in Georgia at the time).

Whatever one thinks of Bush, it seems like in 2000 we knew a lot more about him than we know about Obama now.

Darn right that people, perhaps more than one would know, might prefer Bush over the choices now. But, his time is just about up.
