Well, I'll give you anywhere between a 30 and 60% chance of looking for something to do on January 8th (if ou wins). Who has either of these teams played? Georgia is all that either can claim. Three loss Georgia? And you can't claim each other, because aside from this game neither team has played a single opponent to prove that either one is really a top 2 team. The computers will easily have ou #1 and Texas #2: (rankings reflect likely bcs ranking tomorrow, human polls are current) Florida: L Mississippi (ranked in human polls) W #4 Alabama W #16 Georgia W LSU (votes in Harris) The Citadel (1 AA) Texas: L #7 Texas Tech W #1 Oklahoma W #14 Oklahoma State W #20 Missouri W Rice (votes in Harris, AP, Coaches) W Kansas (votes in Harris, Coaches) common opponent: Florida 38 Arkansas 7 Texas 52 Arkansas 10 The computers will favor us, but I suspect human polls will favor them, though the Harris poll will be close. It will come down to the exact extent to which the voters vote off of emotion of the win today, but I believe that If you are looking for the two best teams or the teams with the better records this season there will be a rematch of a game already played. Sorry, but you need to play someone instead of simply relying on CBS announcers to wank off to the SEC.
It is not CBS I am surprised with; it is the general assumption everywhere that Florida will or should play in the National Championship game. The bad thing about this is that we either need ou to lose or to romp them by enough to take away some of the first place votes from florida.
At this point EVERY one loss team has an argument. 1. Texas one loss to Tech 2. OU to TEXAS 3. Penn State to Iowa 4. ALA to Fla 5. USC to OSU 6. TTU to UT PSU,fla, usc should be out with losses to 3 loss plus teams. TTU is getting screwed by not getting a BCS bowl. Florida is not better than Texas. If head to head is okay for the sooners then head to head should be okay for BAMA. The only consolation for me would to play BAMA in the SUGAR BOWL.
