This is not my favorite stuff, but our recipe is kinda plain--vinegar, mayo, and some little bitty seeds (celery-I think). I have seen some recipes with bottled BBQ sauce in them, but never gave them a try. It is hard to imagine, but are there any recipes out there where folks would leave the table saying "Wow, that cole slaw was the tits."
scottsin has a badass chipotle slaw recipe...I've made it 3 or 4 times and it's fantastic... It's on one of the fish taco threads...
So scottsins would add pureed chipotle in adobo and shreded red onion to a basic slaw; maybe a few other things like cilantro. Sounds good, certainly not without character. I'll give it a try.
also squeeze a detectable amount of lime juice into it. most importantly, make this stuff 12 hours before eating. it's critical. Also note that ERhine's endorsement is made by a guy who "hates cole slaw and never eats the crap".
