I am so sorry for the loss of your precious son. I will keep you in my prayers. I ask that all of you, too, keep me and my son in your prayers. He's 17 and going through a tough time, especially in light of his grandfather's recent passing. (He has been living with his grandparents.) Now my mother does not want to give up control of him because she just lost my dad. On top of that, the family is fighting over my dad's will. It's not pretty. This seems petty compared to your loss.
I know what Marc is going through because I have an angel in heaven with Cole and she is the reason Chad Stevens plays with so much heart. He plays with E.A.S. (Elizabeth Ashley Stevens, his sister)and now with Cole also as his strength and guidance partners.He has two reasons to point toward heaven--Elizabeth and Cole!!!! Two angels we just can't hold tonight but we know they are with us every moment of every day. It's amazing to experience their presence in different ways each day. Our love and prayers go out to Marc, Judy and Chase as they walk the grief journey with all of our support. Our Horns are up for the two of them!!!!
I just wanted to take some time out from all the other boards to think about Cole and other loved ones we have lost. Mr. Pittman, if you still read this, thank you so much for opening up your family's life, during your loss, in order for us to see what a wonderful person Cole was. Mr. Pittman, I am too young to be scared from the loss of family members. I am not too young to feel the pain of the passing of your son. I don't know much about your son, but I saw you speak so pationately during the A&M game. I know that no post can make you feel any better, but I have kept Cole in my memory as a great Longhorn and a great person. I know its going to be difficult during the holdiays, but please remember that we're thinking of your family and your son.
I saw the tractor trailer that UT uses during football season at the cotton bowl, and it had cp on the side. We will never forget him.
I have met MR. Pittman and his family as well and next to my own father NO finer man has walked this earth. I tell you all we are blessed to have such a family as part of the Longhorn family. I will always remember in my prayers the young man from Shreveport who chose to come here to TEXAS and like another great young man Freddie Steinmark who also came from out of state- Colorado- may gone from us but never forgotten because of the type of young men they were. Mr. Pittman... You can rest assured Cole will never be forgotten as long as I'm alive. I was born one day before Cole, on 1/25/80, and since your son has moved on to heaven, I use my birthday every year as a reminder of the day after, when your son came into this world and began a life full of many blessings for those who knew him. The way Cole lived his life is an example to me and everyone else. I did not know your son, but I feel confident in saying that even though your son was a day behind me in age, he is still light years ahead of me in integrity and character. Thank you.
Tragedies like this cross the lines of even the most bitter rivalries. I lost my brother in a traffic accident less than a month ago. I remember how my son lit up when they announced "Cole Pittman". It sounds like Cole Hickman. I didn't know your son, he seemed like a great young man. Mr. Pittman, I read "Raising Cole" last night, I read this book in 5 hours. I am honored to know your story, thanks so much for sharing this glimpse into your life and relationship with your sons. I have a son named Chase, we are huge LSU fans, we attended the Tulane game this weekend. It is our dream to have our boy attend LSU when he goes to college, he's only in the 7th grade but wise beyond his years when it comes to sports, especially football. We are from a small town and he doesn't attend a school that even has a football team but he truly loves the sport. We are honored to have your Chase as part of what we consider the #1 team in the world....Geaux Tigers! I have been telling everyone today about your book, it was remarkably well written and made me cry hysterically throughout most of the book. I know you are proud of your boys and the relationship that you had with Cole and still have with Chase and you should be. I can say that I do not personally know another person that has such a relationship with their child. Sorry about the delayed reply regarding the raising the horns as you pass the memorial site. I myself, stop and raise the horns and sit on the guardrail and scream, Cole,I love you, Cole, I miss you. I know where Cole is at now, but I don't know what he sees or what he hears. I also know that we were so close and the love is so strong that we could carry on a conversation without audibly speaking. So I can speak for Cole regarding this matter. Thank you for the raised horns and thank you for the I love yous and the I miss yous. As his father, thank you for the raised horns. Thank you for not allowing my child to be forgotten. I would be honored, if when you pass occasionaly stop and whip the road film from his cross. I miss him more than ever and the pain is unbearable. Thank you again for raising the horns to my son.
