Obviously the move to the SEC will not hurt the Texas program since the SEC has been one of the best if not the best for a long time (in my opinion).

The Big 12 is gaining Arizona and Utah, but not sure the others are much to write home about. Although Colorado has had a resurgence. Will be interesting to see what happens to those programs and if any of the new members try to seize the day and strengthen their programs.

How will UCLA, USC and Oregon fair in the Big 10? Will they be able to keep the west coast talent with so many games played in the Midwest?

But right now with the complete collapse of the PAC 12 I’m most interested in how this plays out for Stanford and where they end up on the landscape.

This is a spoof, I think, but you have to admit, it’s funny!

I have been wondering this same thing... will recruits want to travel regularly all the way from across the US to the Midwest and East Coast? If I were a recruit that would be a big consideration for me.

The first thing I thought is - Stanford has some elite women's athletes in certain sports. If they are willing to stay after this, then they have no desire to play for championships. Stanford didn't step up to the plate and now they are on the outside looking in. Its time to poach some of their talent.

Those trips from LA to MD are going to be hell, and vice versa of course. Hope the athletes realize that and I hope our coaches use it against them if those schools are Texas' competition.

There are softball players from Oregon and Arizona St speaking out about not being able to play in the PAC 12 and the toll (including mental health) it will take on athletes that play more than one game a week. They’re upset that family and friends will no longer be able to attend near as many games with financial and vacation time sacrifices in their new league.

Looking like Stanford, Cal and SMU are going to end up in the ACC. Apparently NC State was the school that flipped their vote to make it happen. Competition-wise that’s probably good news for Tara & Co as they’ll be in a decent conference as opposed to a UCONN situation with a bunch of nobodies (although hard to argue that has been that much of a negative for the Huskies).

But what a brutal travel schedule it will be for a Pacific coast school in an Atlantic coast conference. I can’t help but think there should be separate conference alignments for football and then the remaining sports in conferences that make some sort of sense geographically. Some of these new alignments look pretty ludicrous on paper, especially if that paper is a map.

I just can’t imagine this being a plus for Stanford women’s basketball. And Tara won’t be there forever…

SMU will forgo any revenue from the ACC for NINE years in order to be included. Stanford & Cal are going to get something like 30%. Big hits for those schools and Cal’s athletic department is already 100’s of millions in debt. SMU plans to get by for nine years on booster support.

So what impact will the loss of revenue have on these schools?

Honestly I agree with you though. Conference for Football. Money grab. Then, other conference for other events. Hell you could have a conference for each sport.
