Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers coach Darryl Drake has died, officials say - CNN

The man who arguably crafted the "Big 3" recruiting class of 2000 and helped turn Texas into a destination for top receiving talent passed away. He's been in the pros since he left us, a testament to how well he was perceived by those around him.

He made an immediate impact when he arrived over from his short stint at Baylor. Mack knew of him at UGA and called him up when Greg Davis threw out some names for WR coach. Baylor had beaten us in 1997 and Drake was on some short lists for OC jobs at smaller schools, but decided to take on the rebuild with a healthier Wane McGarity, a more experienced Kwame Cavil, and very little WR depth behind that. How far we came in a short amount of time!

Met him one time back in 2001 or 2002. It was an open practice, he was very nice when he told me I couldn't use my video camera for practice.
