A lot of DTs chosen today. I was surprised Lokey wasn't one of them.

 

Best situation for him in my opinion. Now he can choose what team provides him the best chance to make a roster. I think New England or the New York Jets would be good places for him to make a roster.

 

There was a time I thought the guy was going to be the second coming of Randy White - Manster II

If my memory serves correctly, he was a playmaker for us in the Rose Bowl.

 

Congrats to Derek. He is a great representative of UT and I'm confident that he'll make the team. He's very strong and versatile.

Good to hear KC signing Lokey. He has the drive and determination IMO to make a spot for himself on a team.

Other than pride, I cannot think of one reason why I'd rather be a 7th rounder than a FA with a team of my choosing (assuming he had more than one option, of course).

 

7th rounders have a team have a little emotionally invested in them by teams so are less likely to get cut. Not a huge difference, but enough to where I'd prefer to get drafted.

 

Great student-athlete... great kid.

Derek will represent well in the League. I like his chances of making the squad and wish him all the best.
