This one stings...a little. #10 rated corner in the country 2020 4-star CB Ethan Pouncey decommits from Texas Edit: This afternoon, his brother, Jordan, enters transfer portal.
I forgot what sports announcer (tv/radio don't recollect) said this, but it makes loads of sense: "We should let these kids make their own decisions about where they go to play college football AND RESPECT THAT DECISION. Not their dads, not their moms, not the alumni, the coaches, but where the kid wants to go. Know why? Because THEY'RE the ones that have to do the work on the field and in class. Mom & Dad aren't, the fans aren't, his friends aren't, HE is."
Eh, I've never understood why they are called kids, they're men, Mack Brown's comments notwithstanding.
I hear ya, I guess whatever they're considered, those individuals are the ones putting it on the line, physically and mentally/emotionally. Shouldn't they get to go where they want to so they're in an environment they chose for their hopes and dreams to hopefully come true?
buuuutttt I thought this particular board was about college football (DIVISION I COLLEGE FOOTBALL, POWER 5, etc), sooooo like 99.99999 percent of the time, we're talking about kids, er guys, um, young men committing to play the game of tackle foozeball.....
Sure. Then call them men. I am not disagreeing with you. I don't know enough to know if the average or above average recruit is smart enough to decide.
This de-commit makes sense. His brother is unhappy with not getting playing time and is transferring. Why come to the school where your brother is leaving ? This may not be due to Orlan_o's _efence. Two DBs gone now from the class. With Moore's legal issues, Johnson, Duvernay, Burt, etc leaving, and chronic injuries to other WRs this could be an area of concern for Texas next year.
First - There's a recruiting board... Second - He's a 3 star player... There's always decommits, transfers etc. We had 11 players enter transfer portal last year. No one was whining and crying about it.
@RainH2burntO 1. This is a recruiting thread and belongs on that forum 2. There’s no need to capitalize thread titles, also @zuckercanyon - we can see it just fine without the caps Thanks
Nor am I. If you read any of my posts, you'll find I'm not in that bunch.. quite the opposite. Simply sharing news and posting facts. Didnt you see my "hot" rating of your response in a similar thread a day or two back? Now you rate me "not" ?? I'm crushed.
Wow, do you think there's no connection? This was planned like D-Day. Ethan publicly stated he wanted to play with his older brother Jordan. His older brother Jordan could not cut the mustard to get on the first two teams at Texas. Herman commended his effort, but that did not change the depth chart. Hence today the move to the portal to get more Glory time. Hence brother decommits since he wants to play with him. A simplistic approach for them for certain, but that's the way they roll, evidently. It will be interesting to see if the more talented Ethan will be willing to step down to a school where Jordan can start. Hello, Kent State? I would argue that there is no loss when one recruit underperforms and the other one isn't truly committed to the program nor the school beyond an association with his sibling.
