I have a spare SATA HDD. I'm thinking about buying a external HDD chassis for it. I know it connects to the computer via USB 2.0. Does it matter that my notebook doesn't have a SATA controller? Will the HDD enclosure handle the SATA controlling. I just want to make sure my notebook will just read it simply as an external HDD. Hopefully that made sense.
Yes, if you get a USB chassis, it won't matter if your notebook doesn't have a SATA controller. Just make sure the external chassis works with SATA drives (as opposed to PATA/ATA only).
