I'm too young to remember any of the 70s games or earlier, but here are some of my faves:

    1. 1984 - It was still early enough in the season to think we had a shot at the national title after the OU tie. The late defensive effort was epic. It's a shame how the rest of the season went down.
    2. 1995 - Tony Brackens destroying their punter is still an oft-used gif.
    3. 2001 - Vasher destroying Carlos Francis probably would have been called a penalty today, but I appreciated it.
    4. 2006 - Colt's comeback in Lubbock is where I really got on board with how good he could be.

Least favorite Tech games throughout the years:
    1. 1994 - I know there was a team in white playing in Lubbock that day, but it sure seemed like some of their brains remained behind in Austin. Winning that one would have sealed the conference and gotten one last Cotton Bowl, where we probably would have been dismantled by USC.
    2. 2008 - easy one to pick but mostly for how GD called the first half and put us at a huge disadvantage... we were a national championship bound team and his lazy calls swiped the rug out from under us. That and Blake Gideon.
    3. 2017 - we just shouldn't lose to 3rd stringers.

    Notable other games:
1998 - **** Derek Dorris and his cheap shot ways
2002 - I still believe this team was probably the best Mack had that wasn't 2005 or 2008. We probably would have won the conference if it wasn't for everyone getting hurt on D and Simms' late interception.

Not a game, but in 1965 I got to sit behind the Tech bench. Donnie Anderson was a senior. The Horns physically manhandled Tech into the third quarter. The Tech seniors gathered on the bench in front of where i was sitting. The looks on their faces, as they realized this was not "their year" and the year they finally would beat Texas for the first time, was unforgettable.

Donnie Anderson gained a total of 42 yards against Texas in three years. He lived down the street from me as a kid. The four Anderson brothers bought houses next to each other and a block away from my parents. I never forgave his dad for moving them to the Panhandle, even though he came back every summer, even after signing with the Packers.

1983. A beautiful sunny fall day in Austin. The Horns took care of business against the Raiders.

That one had to be the best, though Texas wasn't in it.

"Knocked the fool out of me", he said. Don't worry, plenty of fool still left.

Plus the Gap Kid, years later, actually posted on here and was somewhat of a Hornfans celebrity, as such, which is like being the world's tallest midget.

Favorites I was In the stands for, 1991 in freezing cold Horns beat Tech as Hadnot has one of his few good days that season, 1995 at night in a rout at DKR, 1999 again at night and again a home rout, 2005 the Horns host a top 10 Tech team and just run them out of the stadium. I saw the post above about Texas being 8-2 against Tech this past decade which was the worst in Texas football history and that about sums up Tech and Texas, Texas almost always wins but sadly I think that ‘08 will never stop hurting as that game really was the NC decider.

The 95 game was a good one, on the way to the last SWC championship.

I like the 2009 one as well, getting a bit of revenge on Tech for the 08 crusher. Plus I got to see the refs not putting up with Leach's sandbox play calling, when at the end of the half, he had his QB fake taking a knee then try to throw, which like faking a surrender, is dangerous to all sides.

They called a penalty, gave him an earful, and the half was over.

2004, where we won 51-21 in the first game of the "let Vince be Vince" era; one of the better games Mack/Greg called on offense, too.

2013, where we won 41-16 and Baker Mayfield got benched in the 2nd half for Marcus Brewer.

2018, where Sam really proved himself with his last-second TD pass to LJ Humphrey. I mean, really he'd already proved it against OU that year, but it's different having to throw the touchdown yourself as opposed to just needing to get into FG range.

I enjoyed watching the Tech vs. A&M game every year, especially in the Pirate era.

My favorite Tech game was any of them where they threw tortillas. I remember a night game rout at DKR (1999?) and the tortillas were raining down from the upper deck. It was a thing of beauty and a tradition whose time ended far, far, too soon.

Yup, that is my favorite. IIRC, Tech had a pretty good team in 2004 and may have been favored at home.

The Diggs hit would probably be penalized now, due to the blow to the head, and rightfully so. Even for players on other teams, it's sad to see them get damage to the brain from big hits. After reading about players like Priest Holmes who loses feeling in his legs and can often barely walk, from all the damage to his body, I can't feel fired up about head hits anymore.
