You'd think The Pirate really wants to win this one especially with his presser statements earlier. State will need to stop the run way better than they just did on Tech's opening drive. *Bulldogs apparently without quite a few players especially on defense.
Tech probably converts if they run it on that 4th down but State catches a break with just a field goal there.
First time I've ever cheered for an SEC team over a team from Texas besides A&M. Tech might be winning big if they hadn't stupidly called a 3 yd pass on 4th and 5 instead of running a route past the sticks.
Finally found the right thread. I didn't expect to see 27-7 tech at the end of the 3rd. Who's coaching the Bulldogs tonight? The Pirate or The Dude?
Another non-SEC-ready SEC team. If only these guys would get to play in bowls where they were engaged and challenged so that they would come in focused and play the way they play during SEC league play...
Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a 30 team playoff. At least the teams would be playing for something, a championship. Better than worthless games. A two tier playoff. One for the haves and one for the have nots. Top tier would be for 1-14 seeds with two byes. 2nd tier would be 15-30 seeds. These lower seeded teams will play for their own championship while the top tier plays for theirs. This format is much better than what we have now. Do away with conference championships.
Leach's schtick will play well in Starkville as long as he's winning. And only as long as he's winning. Getting whipped by Tech didn't do him any favors. But more importantly, kudos to the performance of this "new" Tech. Dangerous team.
Disagree, but willing to reconsider next season. MSU was crippled with missing players. Hard to judge Tech's potential based on that one game, just as we mostly misjudged 2021 Texas based off of the Bowl result against Colorado.
Chop, Cumbie did an outstanding job getting his team ready and running his team during the game. I have always liked Cumbie and thought he would make a good OC, possibly HC. Tech has one of the brightest young offensive minds coming in to be OC. If the QB stays, they could be a force.
Agree. MSU was missing starters on both lines. They were in the game until the 3rd quarter. I think they acquitted themselves well and ran out of gas due to lack of players. No way Tech looked "dangerous". Covid is becoming a way of life for various reasons, some stupid, some not. Just tonight the UTWB game was cancelled.
