Breaking: Gary Patterson and #TCU are parting ways immediately. The #Frogs longtime head coach will not finish the season. @JDonati_TCU will start the search for a new football coach.
I wouldn’t think so. I believe that as the rumors has suggested, TCU was ready to move on. I think they may want Dykes and because Tech fired Wells, if that’s who they want, they needed to clear the deck so to speak.
Jus saw that. Patterson per one reports, was offered a position as Athletic Director - Football Operations, but he requested that the termination be immediate and a complete severance with TCU.
TCU forgets who they are. So spoiled with their successes. i’m too lazy to look it up but I would wager Gary Patterson has put them in more AP 25 poll finishes and top 10 finishes than in the entire history of the program combined before he got there. I’m not a Gary Patterson fan but the entitlement and arrogance here is just amazing. I’m looking forward to TCU wandering in the wilderness for a good long while.
It would be funny if he wound up at tech Kansas, k state or tech? If I were him I'd retire to a fox or ESPN gig
Let him come here. Within 5 games he will go from "good coach" to "stupid sack of **** who can't get it done".
I think he's reached the point where he's ready to hang it up. Everyone gets to that point, he's 61 and the last 20 years have been very intense.
Wow, I am seriously surprised and shocked by this decision and the timing? Patterson has done so much for that program. He was the King of FW for a long while.... I know frogs have struggled the last couple of years but seriously who ya'll gonna get that is better than GP?
Unless they truly have a plan in place this is Tech firing Mike Leach level of stupid. Patterson built that program & their expectations. Mack Brown tried to play this card when he left but was wrong. In Patterson‘s case it’s actually true. He built the expectation.
Maybe a guy or two on their current roster, WR- Johnson, big receiver we can use. DE- Mathus, pass rusher we desperately need.
Rumor has it, they want Traylor, that would be a great hire, but agree with you, who to get better than GP?
I saw that Traylor signed a $28 million contract extension....thank goodness Don't want to see him at TCU
