HF "Tailgate" at DFW Watering Hole - January

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

So, I have been tasked to try and organize an informal HF "tailgate" on a Thursday night at a DFW Sports-bar TBD. Preferably in January, IF enough of you rascals respond with a willingness to show up. This assumes decent places are open and not all closed due to covid!

I anticipate an informal come-and-go affair, from say 5 to 8 pm. Some will drop by for a short time, others will stay longer, perhaps have dinner and brag about their days on the 40 Acres or HF posting prowess.

SabreHorn is invited to be the guest speaker if he can free himself from other obligations. Dionysus will be Master of Ceremonies if he can make it.

Horn in Chicago aka HIC has already committed and Horn Husker Dad, so far...

Anyway, let me know if you are interested.

    Hook Em! :hookem:

I'm in - if you'll find a good place in the mid-cities or Fort Worth. Driving in Dallas is scary!

Is that to clean up the room, or the woman who got evicted so you could have a place to stay?

I'd love to see you guys, but I'm covid wary, but not as much as the woman I married.

If I stay on Harry Hines, Covid is so far down the list of diseases I'm worried about that I might be grateful I have it.

OK Sabre, putting you on the spot here....

Would you drive / fly up to DFW for our little party if we found a date that works for you?

If so, I'll pay for a fine dinner for you and I will volunteer HIC to pay for liberal libations!

    What say yee?

I've also suggested Shady Oak BBQ just north of Fossil Creek Golf Course, NE corner of I-35W and I-820 on the north side of Fort Worth. Terrific BBQ and the best hot bread you'll ever find.
    We'll see what WorsterMan thinks.

Have not had BBQ there..... sounds good to me. Northeast Tarrant county - Viper is that too long a hike for you?
Anyone else think you might attend at this point?

    So far, tenative:

    Viper
    HIC
    WM
    Longhorn Legend
    LHABSOB

After the holidays have passed, I will circle back with y'all and propose some dates we can choose from in January. We want to maximize attendance. Of course we will also agree on the place.

Please continue to reply to the thread with comments or suggestions or IM me if you prefer.

What day of the week are we looking at? Weekend/holiday it will be fine. Work day night the traffic going west across the mid-cuties is a *****, but doable.

I could fly down from Chicago with enough notice- need to head out to the lake house in ETX for a few days. Late Jan is better for me as the Mrs and I are going to Playa in early-mid Jan before my son starts back at Purdue.
Shady Oak is a good central location and I've always liked the place and also think it is a set up well for a large group. But to be fair, it's owned by the same chain that owns Spring Creek- the Carroll family.
