HF is an important part of a balanced workday, hold your ground brother
Hornfans is okay. I log on about once every few weeks or so. Anything more frequent would be uphauling and not sit well with me.
Who am I kidding? I can't get by without Hornfans!
I get on this site a minimum of 3 times a day. If I don't I get the shakes. I love the info and humor.
I'll second that. Thanks for all your hard work to keep Hornfans alive and well.
On August 31st this year I will be celebrating 15 years on this site. I have never ventured to any other message board. I, like others, had no idea what I was going to do when it was initially announced that HF was going to shut down.
Then our savior @Dionysus swooped in to save the day and asked for donations to help out in the new HF 2.0. Even though I was transitioning from the Air Force to my current job with the railroad and dealing with just keeping my job by avoiding furloughed status, I donated as much as I could, which was very little, and feel good that I was a small part in keeping this second family of mine alive.
I am really going to try and make the spring game this year and the HF meet up, hopefully we have one.
Love you all, even those cousin Eddie types and grumpy Grandpas!
I love this place Dionysus! Thanks for the hard work and creativity,
Thanks for making it all happen Dion. great place to see how other brothers of the horn feel.
Hornfans is now a very stable platform, thanks to you. It’s up all the time and doesn’t hang my browser up ever.
did you come from a software background?
General IT background with some web development. After a couple missteps I was fortunate to find a good web hosting company that has performed really well. Our server is located in a Texas data center so that helps with performance.
Raise your hand if you remember the old Hornfans crashing and burning after a big win or just about any loss
True, but to be fair there were probably a lot more folks hitting the site back in the day, and the server/network infrastructure has matured quite a bit since then so things are definitely better now.
I joined back in 1999. There weren't all that many posters initially back then, but the site took off pretty quickly. I've enjoyed the boards over the years and a lot of the posters, some are really good, others can be annoying as hell, but that's life. One of my favorites was a guy posting as "SpiderAg". That was some funny stuff and really made the ags look stupid! (I know, they do that to themselves on a regular basis!)
Anyway, happy 20th Anniversary Dion! You and the others do a great job! I'll see guys at the Spring Game in late April!
This is a great site that encourages congenial discussion and promotes the Horns without excessive homerism. Nice work Dion and crew.
My only critique: Sometimes its uphauling that, four all intensive porpoises, their are two many pre-Madonnas lurking hear and they're.
Thanks and congrats!
Thanks Dion for all you've done.
And a belated Happy Birthday to @Texanne
Yup. Sumtimes there are two many idoits but we overlook 'em!
Love HF. Have since the old days. Hookem, and thanks Dion for the whole enchilada.
Thanks @Dionysus .
I don't recall my entry into HF, but it was a while ago.
You've done a yeoman's job, good sir. Appreciate ya!
Should we put a wall to honor those who have been banned?
We could call it:
HornFans Wall of Shame ???
Thanks Dion for all your hard work.
I remember. There had been a huge amount of anxiety felt by most Hornfans, due to all the talk and rumors about the site closing, etc. And then after Dion did his magic it turned out to be a great improvement of the website and Hornfans experience. Hornfans moved into the 21st century.
We all need to support this site and the fine folks who work so hard to keep it. Committing to being a sponsor, even at a very modest amount, is easily done and very helpful!
And the fact that my Birthday is February 18 (celebrated for 72 years now) I sort of see Hornfans rebirth on 2/17/17 as a gift from the Universe that keeps on giving.
Thank you to Dion and the team he worked with to rebuild Hornfans; Dion had faith in what Robert and Katy created, and he had faith in his Hornfan brothers and sisters who love this site.
Thanks to the Hornfans who continue to contribute insightful information, entertaining and humorous posts, and in times of trouble find ways to respond with kind and considerate support.
What else would I do on the toilet???
With the way Texas has played the last 10 years, that is always the best place to sit and discuss it.
@Dionysus lol. Thank you for the poop.
Your post was a slow pitch over the plate, I had to swing
