What a great year...so far.
No player in the history of MLB has won the batting title 4 years in a row - Altuve will go down as the greatest Astro ever. He is the reincarnation of Craig Biggio and Jose Cruz combined, except he is better than either of those greats.
Altuve hit into a double play in his only at-bat with a RISP so far today. What a bum.
An update to the Sale family Wiki information ....
That is hilarious. I fell for it and the timing was perfect!
Feels weird pulling for Yankees
I cant believe they blew that lead
But they did lose a key bat
If there is ANYTHING that helps the Sox out of yesterday's game (which I saw from Section 111), it will be that final AB when they HAD to pitch to Altuve...with the crowd chanting M-V-P...and the bases loaded...and they get Altuve to swing and miss on the full count.
That being said...I don't see this one going five games.
Was frustrating to miss Springer's Dinger...was returning from the bathroom and was halfway across the concourse when you could hear the crack and the roar.
Verlander got the win
Potentially enough time between now and the 1st game of ALCS that Verlander could still start that one...although would anticipate Keuchel in Game 1 and Verlander in Game 2. Must be rough on Hinch to have to choose from amongst the riches that is his starting pitching palette...
I thinks its Keuchel
And Indians suddenly looking human is encouraging
Have to give props to that Yankee starter last night...was still throwing 100mph BB's in the 7th inning. And he has struggled earlier in his career...so him catching lightning in a bottle in the playoffs would NOT be a good thing for Houston- efforts like that can be contagious.
I dont know if you caught the local radio guy in the lockerroom post-game?
Steve Sparks with probably one sip of champagne
Was pretty funny
Cheapest drunk in town
Hey, that ain't Omaha!
OK, the Yankees have given us the matchup we wanted, now just gotta go get em Astros!
If you want the historic run, here it is: Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers.
After the Yankees won their series, I was very glad I did not continue bidding on a Starwood Moments VIP package for Game 4...on the field for batting practice and two tickets for the game. Was SURE that we were looking at Games 3 and 4 here in Houston...
I'm thinking the Astros-Yankees series could set some post-season scoring records...
I did not want to face the Indians' pitchers. We have not matched up well with them all year.
Look how rough the area around home plate looks! If you click on the photo to make it bigger, the field looks like a gravel pit.
good write up in SI on the Stros and Verlander......he is re-energized and the 'Stros appear to be on a mission.
