College QB in Run and Shoot. Offensive minded coach, pro experience. Success with Gilbert when Brown couldn't. Has been recruiting Texas. Cost less, even with buy-out. yep, really need to be looked at!
JJ just needs a little defensive help! GG had a 66.5 completion rate with 3,528 yards. Compare that to what our OBT (Offensive Brain Trust) did with GG (You like my GG and JJ's!!)
NO for all the reasons mentioned above. Plus, us Texans could not abide our football coach named "June."
Hell, let's just hire Jerry Jones. He's had years of head coaching experience since Jimmy Johnson left and he knows a thing, or two about running a multimillion dollar business.
If you don't like the idea of June as coach then fine, but at least give a reasoned argument like Caryhorn does!
We don't need a Jones. We are the Joneses! Real reasons: Pro HC record is poor No larger (BCS) conference experience or success. Older than I would like to see for this job. Rarely runs the ball. I like the high octane passing WITH a good running game. Recent HC performance has been poor to mediocre in a weaker conference. Texas can do better in selecting a HC.
8-5 is the best record Jones has enjoyed at SMU, where he's been since 2007. If 8-5 is acceptable, why aren't we keeping Coach Brown, who is about the same age and has a lot more personality? In my mind, Jones is the third best NCAA coach in the DFW area, behind TCU's Patterson and UNT's Dan McCarney.
He took Garrett Gilbert and turned him into the 59th rated quarterback in the country on a team with a losing record. The absolute last thing we need is a coach who wanted Garrett Gilbert. Literally. That is the last thing we need.
