Currently paying £345 per month, and bear in mind that my house isn't heated by electricity. Furthermore, the UK government spent almost the equivalent of its entire national health budget to supposedly hold down energy prices. It's a total **** show.
Holding down prices only reduces supply which just raises prices. It's either blackouts or higher prices in that game. They must have prioritized not having black outs.
It was garbage to policy on top of garbage policy. They shouldn't have diminished their energy supplies to try to save the world, and they shouldn't have dumped a bunch of money into it to hold down prices. It worked like dumping federal money into higher education has held down tuition (meaning it has, if anything, made the problem worse). Might be the biggest waste of public money in the country's history.
Alex is the GOAT on this issue. Follow him to figure out what is going on. He has 2 books and podcast that goes back years talking about all the different aspects of the issue.
Right about now, we could use a Jimmy Carter lecturing us on how we should learn to do with less, put on a sweater, use a lot less energy, and lower our expectations.
Note a mix of 40% nuclear, 40% gas, and 20% renewable (hydro, wind and solar) is equivalent to 80% nuclear and 20% coal in terms of CO2 (basically an 80% reduction from 100% coal). My mix is 100% doable but opposed by the left due to grift, rent-seeking, and authoritarianism. The left doesn’t want nuclear and oil/gas to solve global warming.
I am woefully ignorant on this issue of ice in Greenland But the NASA data chart Borenstein put in comments section seemed legit.
Thanks mc But then further down in comments are data from Greenland and Denmark that seem to back up NASA data. This looks like a case of lies damn lies and statistics. Hard to know anymore
Watch the video. It is very explanatory. Like in many other areas propagandists pick a measurement that says what they want even it doesn't really measure what people claim it does.
