I'm going to relo my bitcoin mining to Finland. I'm not a hydro engineer but it seems weird to me that they would build the operation and not have a release valve that bypasses the generators. maybe they do and it just isn't big enough?

 

That is what I was thinking. Couldn't they just reduce the water flow to reduce producton? But this would be a good use of excess energy, run servers doing bitcoin mining. The more excess electricity the more computing power is brought on line.
